He'd be an excellent signing and is pretty much the perfect age. With him in the last year of his contract, Rotherham may well be prepared to cut a deal.

If this is us, this is what I said about showing your hand with the Brannagan bid being made public. Everyone knows we have over £1m to spend and can hold you to ransom.

I don't know, £1M+ for a player who has only done anything at L1 level, with 1 year left on his contract seems reasonable. I believe Newcastle have a 50% sell-on clause, which probably means Rotherham would rather lose him for nothing next summer than cash out for £500K.

He's a good player and would be a very good signing

Let's be honest though

It probably won't happen if our recent transfer activity is anything to go by

Just looked at his opening day stats against Swansea (didn't play last weekend because Rotherham were at Coventry).
34 touches
17 out of 26 successful passes
2 chances created
1/4 ground duels won.
0/3 successful crosses
4/8 successful long balls
Edit
In the last game of last season against Brannagan's Oxford, Barlaser was rated 7.3 to Brannagan's 6.1.
Barlaser scored at both ends!!

Their fans are saying £5m for a player out of contract next year 🤷‍♂️
Yet some people say Bowler isn't worth more.

The championships trickiest winger on his day, causing all sorts of problems for defenders.

They are a club whove just come up and the guy hasn't done anything like what Bowler has, can't be worth near the same as Bowlers 3 million, nevermind 5.

I’m forgetting about this, or any other incoming rumour until they’re confirmed by the club. The clear out is underway with Dale, Lavery and Keogh.

I believe nothing anymore, untill they're in a Blackpool shirt then I'm ignoring it. Sick of getting my hopes up. That's being said, he would be a quality signing.

He's a decent goalscoring midfielder but we've been here before - more than once. I'll justt wait for any new signings to be confirmed. That way it saves a lot of frustration.
It's not a bad tactic that others could maybe embrace. 👍

Waiting for the inevitable "Barlaser signs improved deal / Contact extension with Rotherham". Hope I'm wrong, would love a new signing like this but like others have said, I'm not getting any hopes up yet.

In the bad old Oystain days they used to bid high for players or under what they were worth as it looked like they were really interested but the deal would always fall through due to changing things or offering ridiculous terms.

There's no point in fannying around with clubs for players, there has to be a price that can be agreed on and we can make bids all day long, but if they aren't close to what is required it's all a bit pointless. And then we still have to tie up the deal.

Something just doesn't feel right to me, it's like Quitchley leaving has thrown the club into disarray especially for SS and BB, they weren't expecting it, everything was probably going along nicely and then bam! We've got a genuinely decent manager but he isn't Quitch, he doesn't want to play the same way, he doesn't want the same players and he seems pretty direct, it's bound to put a few noses out of joint. All the work that had gone into the Quitchley plan was gone, it is gone. So we are in transition and it's either going to be difficult to start with but work out or it's going to start out being difficult and it's going to be a complete car crash. I hope for the first but fear for the latter.

I think a problem with a lot of these players we are going for is the sell on clause the clubs have to give to the original premier league clubs like City or Newcastle which waters down our fee. However, if they are in the final year of their contract and don't sign another the players can walk away at the end of the season and they will get zilch !

They can (and do) include sell-on clauses of their own.
