David Cameron.

A pig caught with his snout in the trough

Cameron shown to be a shallow, sleazy and corrupt man.

With him and Johnson ruining the country, perhaps the public may decide to vote for a more meritocratic society one day

I wouldn't be a fan of Blair either but if Labour are serious about getting in to power it might be an idea to get rid of Starmer and put Blair back in.

Blair was on telly only the other week explaining that Labour must appeal to people who previously voted Tory if they are to gain power and must adopt policies in line with that.

All very simplistic but to be honest, I'm not sure Starmer understands that.
If you adopt policies of the opposition, don’t you just become the opposition?

I've slept since I wrote that LALA !!!!!!!!

It was just an interview with Blair I saw the other week that really resonated with me despite being so obvious/simple - before anybody says it, yes it might have resonated with me because it was so simple !!!!!!!!!!!

What you say is certainly right, in that if you were to adopt the identical policies to the opposition you would become the opposition but that is even more simple.

In the interview - I can't find it now but I assume it was recorded fairly recently - Blair explained that Labour would never be able to regain power without appealing to those who had previously voted Conservative and that this could only be done by adopting policies in line with that.

That's very simple and very easy for him to say but I do feel that if the Labour Party are to regain power it would be far more likely to be done with Blair* in charge who clearly understands what needs to be done to regain power and has previously demonstrated that.

* Note - perhaps I should say or somebody like Blair as no doubt with the happenings in Afghanistan he will have now gone to ground. At least we won't have to listen to him and his mullet chunnering on about vaccines and Brexit for a while, it's an ill wind, etc, etc.

Tony Blair is a very wealthy man. Keir Starmer is a Sir. Can you honestly say these are labour people? Keir Starmer has lost touch with reality.

Worth mentioning that Starmer got his knighthood for services to law and criminal justice, where he primarily worked on human rights. He's from a fairly modest background; the son of a factory toolmaker and nurse, and was the first in his family to go to university. He was also named after Keir Hardie, the first Labour MP. I would say he's probably a Labour person, yes.

Quite. He was a Liberal
Churchill was always a Tory. In 1924 Churchill led a 'Constitutionalist' alliance of Tories and Liberals who had served in the National Liberal coalition Government of 1918-22 under Lloyd-George. party allegiance among Tories and Liberals was very fluid at that time. Note that the Conservative Party officially split from the coalition following the Carleton Club meeting in October 1922. The Party leadership had favoured remaining in the coalition but a backbench revolt took the day. Austen Chamberlain resigned as Party leader and Bonar-Law took his place. This was the birth of the Tory 1922 Committee of backbenchers which continues to exert influence in the Party to this day.
