Diogo Jota

Shows how fragile life can be, I've just watched the wedding video's he posted on Instagram less than 2 weeks ago as he and all his family and friends celebrated in to the night, an absolute tragedy for his wife and children to deal with and his parents who have to suffer losing two sons.

Absolutely tragic.

Unfathomable. The car caught fire. Poor poor lads. And with a newly wed wife and 3 small kids. It's a cruel world.

I've mentioned on here that I occasionally get tickets for games at Anfield through my cousins.
Earlier last season I went to the game with Fulham. Liverpool were down to 10 men and 2-1 down with
very little time left and struggling to find a goal against a really decent Fulham side
Jota came on as a sub and within a few minutes had scored the equalizer. A typical clinical finish as well.
He always seemed to score important goals.
Such utterly tragic news. I can't begin to imagine how his family are feeling.
RIP Dioga and Andre

I know it's a little early for my question and apologies if I offend.

What happens in this situation to the club. Do the insurance company pay his contract to the family and do they pay out a transfer value to the club?

It's a good question, not sure if I'm honest.

Obviously this thing doesn't happen very often but I do remember there was an issue over that lad Cardiff signed who died in the plane crash and IIRC Cardiff didn't get the pay out. Think his name was Salah or something.

As for Jota, tragic and feel so much for his family and young children. RIP

I know footballers, especially PL players pay huge sums for car insurance, generally more than the value of the car for this very reason.

Unfathomable loss, what a player he was.

It is offensive, fecking offensive!

Both I'd have thought. He'd have been insured to hell.

As bad as it gets. Tragic.
RIP 😢

Reminder to anyone on here: if your tyre bursts e.g. on motorway or dual carriageway, try to resist the natural instinct to brake hard.
Remove your foot from accelerator and try to move down through the gears if you’re in a manual. Hitting the brake will rip the tyre straight off.

The car reported as a Lamborghini Aventador. Basically, a unibody chassis fitted with a 6.5 litre V12, with a carbon fibre skin and very skinny tyres, and capable of 220 mph.
Edit: Now reported as a Lamborghini Huracán, a 5.2 litre V10 engined car with 200 mph top speed. The wreckage is unrecognisable.

RIP. The lads were their parents’ only children. And Diogo Jota had such a young family. Tragic.

Tragedy and leaves a young family behind and only married a few days ago. Top class striker and will be missed by all. RIP

Saying it was Andre that was driving the car as they was going to the ferry to come back to the uk
How very very tragic ❤️

Perhaps these top flight footballers should go for safety like the Volvo XC90 rather than flash sports cars. Unfortunately too late for these poor brothers what a tragedy 🥲

You'd feel pretty bad if you were the doctor who told him not to fly.
One of those awful accidents that made me drive a few mph slower yesterday.
