Do Fans Have The Patience Required?

What an incredibly unpleasant, ignorant and revealing response. Most unpleasant reply I've ever had on here, and I've been on AVFTT from the start. If this is how we can expect to be spoken to on AVFTT, and it is deemed acceptable, then I'm not the sort of person to stick around, to be honest.

There is nothing at all rude in there. No need to get all uppity. You said you prefer football at a lower level. In a rather tongue in cheek way (far from rude) I suggested I was grateful the owner and most of the fan base are not of that mindset. AVFFT does not belong to you either. You seem very self important. Seriously what drama.

Of course AVFTT doesn't belong to me. You are imagining stuff to suit your own issues.
I have no issues. I merely disagreed with the fact you said you prefer lower level football. And you've had a hissy "how very dare you" moment.

Well I think you're out of order. Other people can make their own minds up but if people talk to others like that the place just becomes obnoxious, which is how you are coming across to me. Sneering and superior. If you think it's ok, fine, but don't engage with me, if you don't mind. I don't come on here to have conversations like this.

I was thinking after Saturday’s game whether there was anything we can cling to in the hope that our season can turn into a really positive one.

I immediately thought about the 2001-01 season where (those of a certain age will remember) we won against Hull on the opening day and then went downhill from there for some while and in the first third of the season also had the embarrassing 7-0 defeat at Barnet (in front of 25,000 travelling fans apparently although the actual attendance was 2520 and yes I was there!!).😬

After 9 games, we'd won that Hull game, drawn 3 and lost 5. We picked up a few results then but after that Barnet game, our record was P18 W6 D4 L8 F24 A32 and we stood 16th in the league on 22 points. Barnet were 9th and one point off the Play Offs.

Barnet ended up that season getting relegated on the final day and we ended up getting promoted via the Play Offs in Cardiff....so you never know 😉

So whilst there’s not a direct comparison as such (as we're only a handful of games into the current season), there is though a need for patience - something I know very little of us have being football fans!

I'm as guilty as anyone of not having that patience but I think this season, of all seasons, requires as many of us as possible to show a higher than normal amount of restraint.
We only just beat Barnet at home that season, I think it was 3-2. The thing is with that particular season is we scored a lot but conceded a fair few. Was Simmo someone we signed halfway through that season, I'm trying to think what turned it around.

Simmo was with us from the start. The turnaround came away to Kidderminster on TV where we won 4-1 and never really looked back. That said, I can't quite remember whether that was before or after the Barnet debacle.
It does seem with Blackpool that we always need to have that 'breakout' performance to get us going. Carlisle under Grayson was another example. I think we're currently in the place now where we're just waiting for one.

I was there for that game I'm just trying to work out what got us going, were new signings involved like Shittu for example? From memory there were very few draws we either hammered someone or got beat. It helped that Brett and Murphs scored 50+

I don't recall anything specific but could be wrong, it was a long time ago. Did we have some kind of clear the air talks beforehand? Either way, we were properly up for it that night!

4 points out of 18 should be trying most supporters patience. I've ruffled a few feathers re Critchley and now he's got the squad he wants I expect an improvement in results sooner rather than later. I will, however, be happy to eat humble pie if his tenure does prove a successful one.

I think if we were all going week in, week out then I'd be frustrated but the fact we can't get there means Critch almost has a 'free hit' season - I think everyone will be so pleased to get back to some sort of normality that we won't care how we've done.
