Do we need a fans anthem?

We do yes. Something we can sing loud and proud.
If it Could be intimidating to opponents even better. Can’t involve clapping either.

Always felt it would be great to have an anthem belting out just before kick-off. Not everyone’s cup of tea, but pretty impressive.

That is one of the best crowds singing I have ever seen, know a couple of people there, and they said the hair stood up on the backs of their necks when it was going.

It would be great to have one. Looking back at the Homecoming, 14000 of us belting out the same song so many times was a huge part of the best atmosphere I have experienced at Bloomers in modern times.

I wanted the fans groups to push for something last year Not coming out music but something to put on 5 mins b4 KO in advance of teams coming out

Has to be timeless, easy to follow chorus and unique - pointless copying another club

Tam, we’ve had a unique song knocking about for decades we could use, it needs revving up a bit! but the 2 choruses of “I do like to be beside the seaside” could be adopted, and is definitely relevant. I’m sure Rox or Raggy could rearrange the lyrics slightly to be more fitting.
We could even have a Reginald Dixon doppelgänger rise up through the centre circle seated at his mighty Wurlitzer to lead the chorus 5 mins before KO! I’m sure Simon our Saviour could arrange it.😉

First time I've seen that Hibs one. Incredible.

Fraid I'm not in favour of "I do like...…" Sure, it's associated with Blackpool but it doesn't have the raw emotion of what a football club should mean to you for me.
Apart from that, it's so old fashioned, it belongs in an era going back sixty or seventy years.

I'm with you 20's

My fav when we had a thread on this last year was ' Bringing On Back The Good Times ' by Love Affair

What the Hibs song shows is it's not really the song itself that's important but the way the fans associate with it and most importantly all can sing the song from start to finish

Interesting. I'd suggest Everlasting Love is better and more appropriate. Have a good look at the words. Even the title fits.

I know what you’re saying re old fashioned, but when West Brom brought thousands a good few years ago and banged out their version, it sounded pretty impressive.

FC United sing 'Under the Boardwalk' by the Drifters.
When they played Blackpool Mechanics in around 2005 at Bloomfield Road, it sounded absolutely superb as an anthem.
The song works well also, as it's related to being down by the sea.

I dunno whether we need an anthem, but we do need something with a bit more umph than 'this is the one' - it's proper low key...

Watching our old videos, the one that gets me every time is backgrounded by Elbow's A day like this, great repetetive chorus, and already means something to many of us.

Ok, I’ve sadly given this a lot of thought and have a suggestion. I hope this isn’t too deep, but on a number of levels I think James ‘Sit Down’ would be great.

First, easy to sing along to and would generate lots of noise.

Second, the lyrics are meaningful, for us fans together and for our inclusive club.

Third and importantly, we can tie this into BFC and Fans supporting Mental Health, which to some extent we are all touched by at some point. I’m sure the club would want to support this with the local NHS Trust and maybe charities.

I’m thinking of sending this to the club, so thoughts? I know the track won’t be for everyone, but no track would be. I think the purpose and message is good for the club.

It's a good song Timps but I'm not sure it's an anthem song.
For me an anthem song has a slower pace where EVERY word is belted/shouted out . James just isn't that type of song imo.
Examples just quickly of the top of my head are the Hibs one, Delilah, Goodnight Irene, Mull of Kintyre at Forest. Even those a bit more upbeat each word is crystal clear like Hi Ho Silver lining.
James Sit Down apart from the chorus it's hard to get a grasp on what the words are. Just my view, that's all.

Get bohemian rapsody going.. nice and slow. Blackpooooool ooooooooooooo. Ok it 2mins 30 long in the 1st section but I’ve never heard anyone else sing it.
Plus everyone know it😁

Timps
Yep, it's a good song but listening to those words make me even think it's less of a football anthem song than I first thought.
Although it's message is supposed to be uplifting it goes to too many dark places in my view.

They did this live at the RL Grand Final and it was amazing. The key for any track chosen, it has to go down well with the Muckers in the North, otherwise it’s pointless.

It is a major modern anthem, in an indie club or at a festival, any live event.

All about opinions.

True, and I can't come up with anything better.

I wrote a BFC anthem about 10 years ago now. Could probably go with some tweaks to the lyrics as they're a bit cheesy at times. Always figured it'd be quite rousing being sung by the stands at the start of games too.

Has been reuploaded a few times by people with some more comments on these vids:

Good effort that, I like it. As you say, needs some tweaks to the lyrics, eg wembley, maybe remove glad all over as we don't use it anymore. But this is definitely the kind of thing we need to use.

Each time I listen to this I'm amazed at the volume of noise, even though the fans fill only their half of the stadium. Unlike LFC's You'll Never Walk Alone, the song isn't lead by a loud PA system. Yes we need an anthem but selecting one won't be easy and we don't want to steal it like we did that annoying Oyscum era song Glad All Over (from Crystal Palace).

'Marching on to Layton'. Guaranteed to raise the hairs on the back of your neck and has a historical reference for the Seasiders too-just needs a re-write.

Cheers, if anyone wants to have a go at new lyrics... fill yer boots!
