Does It matter if a new manager/coach is not in place this season?

To me as long as somebody is in place in good time for next season i cant say i am too fussed & Dunn can stay on as caretaker.
I think the most important thing is to try & get the right person rather than just appoint a manager.

Advantages of getting someone sooner is they can assess the squad in real competition & so have more time to implement their ideas & shape things for next season.
Disadvantages if things dont go well will some folk be insisting they are not the right choice and & want them potted even before next season starts!! It may even effect season ticket sales.

Advantages of waiting is that better candidates may become available in the close season. Some working managers may not want to uproot & leave current positions.

Disadvantages of not having the position filled is that it leads to uncertainty amongst playing staff/fanbase etc.

Your thoughts .
Are you panging for a shiny new face at the helm asap or are you happy to wait?

100% makes more sense for a new coach to be here this season. You want them firing from the word go next season. Not learning systems and new players.

The coach gets time to evaluate players, make their mark on the loanees so they come back.

Nope ... We can wait ... Leave Dunn in charge for as long as necessary to get the right man IMO

All depends on how the board/CEO want to manage recruitment. Frankly, if they're going to take a 'here's some players, make it work' approach then you're better off waiting for the best possible man (or woman) to become available. If the head coach/manager has some say in recruitment then the sooner we get someone in the better as they'll need time to properly assess what we need.

Not much. As long as they’re in place immediately the season ends (or maybe when their current club’s season ends ... )

Yes we want to get the right manager, but it would clearly be in our interests to get them sooner rather than later. That is to assess the current squad and to plan both new targets to sign and to plan their pre-season. How many times have we said that we have suffered from not having a decent pre-season? Don't see any real advantages in waiting

I agree with most of the above - if it takes longer to get the right person in then so be it, but the sooner the right person is found, the better.

Dunn will be ok I think seeing season through, however getting the new manager soon must be better, gives him more time to get his ideas across for coming season. And will give fans and club a massive lift.

Mixed opinions
if most of the choices are 'not available' mid season do we we hold tight to summer or drop down the list?
Sure there must have been many applications as loads of people want the opportunity to get back in the game.

The likelihood of more managers being available in the summer than now seems highly likely.

Anyone involved in a promotion challenge is more than likely to want to see out the season, but come the end of May they could be willing to move.

Unless someone applies shortly who ticks all the boxes and blows them away with his plans and methods, I'd be tempted to stick with Dunn.

Ideally we'd get someone sooner rather than later, but I'd rather not rush and make a poor appointment. It's getting a bit frustrating seeing us linked with Managers and then suffering the public knockback...I suppose it is par for the course unfortunately...If you are approaching people in existing roles, then you risk them and their agents using you as leverage....

Personally, I'll be glad when it is settled and we can get behind whoever it is and hopefully start making some progress on the field.

As Kurt said, there's pros & cons to both. But, it's so difficult to call.

I'd say as soon as season ends I'm going to start getting more nervous with each day. I would like Evo more than any option on the board atm. If not him then imho we're just gonna be picking the least-worst.
