Dougall

I feel as though if we were back in the ground for games, players like Dougall & Yates (to name but 2) would be well on their way to being massive crowd favourites.
Understandably, and sadly, there is still a disconnect of sorts between us (as fans) and them.
When we finally get back it is gonna be awesome.

Dougall plays well even when he plays badly. He was heavily involved last night and was a big factor in our midfield domination, despite the occasional stray passes. He's always where the ball is.
I think he is our most influential player.

His positional play last night was superb. He made a few poor passes but probably made more passes than anyone else on the park. He’s always available. Always. He’s always involved and breaking up play. He’s a nasty bugger in the middle of the park too. He’s a class above anyone else I’ve seen at this level this season as far as CM’s go and why he’s not been called by Australia more or is playing in the Championship is anyone’s guess.

When he first came back from having covid he struggled but he looks to be getting back to his best again now and I expect him to keep Stewart out of the side when he returns from injury. Yes he makes the odd stray pass but who doesn't? His combative style brings more to the team than the odd stray pass takes away from it!

I'd much rather have a player that attempts forward passing that sometimes doesn't come off, rather than a midfielder that only attempts the easy sideways/backwards pass.

Ultimately his role is defensive, he breaks up the play and gets stuck in - the way he clattered that player with a fair challenge and sent him off injured is exactly what you want in the middle of the park, a bit of grit. The fact he tries to contribute going forward just makes him an absolute asset.

Ben Burgess described him as a ratter.. when we turn the ball over from the opposition, he’s usually involved. Team player

If we are going to push for promotion we need Dougall to stay fit. And Yates and Ballard. Spine.

I think he's okay but certainly not as good as Stewart, but he is important to our run in. Not sure why we have to single players out on threads, but if they are there to read then it's fair to get different opinions. He made a huge difference when he came in as we had no defensive midfielder other than Williams and Robson and Robson isn't really a defensive midfielder. He did go off form though before his Covid and although he has had a few good games he has lost the consistency he had when he started, maybe that's the change of tactics and the increase in pace?

His distribution is diabolical one of the worst I have seen and this is every week not just the odd game
