Eastern Ukraine - the new Sudetenland?

Given that they’ve already annexed Crimea, I’d say it’s exactly the same as Sudetenland. If they annexe a bit more of the Ukraine, I’m not convinced that the West will do very much about it.

And I'm not sure on what the West could do. Its not like we have the forces to maintain any support.

Russia's skint, this is what they always do to try and raise public morale there, it's lesson 1 of tin pot Soviet dictator school, military cock waving.

Putin is a wanker but he knows how far to push NATO while avoiding any actual action as he knows his country is no shape to take anything serious on. I would imagine the bigger concern is the cyber war he's currently waging but he can't admit to that, so has to have something for the PR.

What a weird and shittty species we are.

There is an exodus from Ukraine over the past few years, over 2 million have moved to Poland, most of them young.

So is this you admitting he sees Sleepy as a soft touch ?
No, which is why he needs to grandstand against him in a show of 'strength'.

He already had Trump in his pocket and was desperate for him to win again. Trump didn't condemn a single thing Putin did in his 4 years in office and was called 'treasonous' by his own party after Helsinki 2018 where he backed Putin over his own intelligence forces.

There was only one soft touch in Washington for Putin and he lost in November.

A show of strength? So are you advocating the USA potentially put themselves in a position of war ?

I wish you'd make your mind up. You're been deriding him as Harris's puppet for months, yet the minute there is any suggestion he might do something pretty strong you are practically wetting yourself.

New Sudetenland?

Just lets hope we don’t capitulate, like Neville Chamberlin did.

I’m pretty sure sleepy isn’t making these tough decisions, but if you want to believe he’s the man then crack on.

Don't worry, Ursula Von Der Leyden and the EU will have everything in hand. No doubt they will use it to argue even more for a European army. An army that will eventually be ordered into action 2 months after everyone else.
Germany and Italy and some East European countries have apparently approached Putin for the Sputnik vaccine. I am sure that is where their priorities lie!

Brilliant response from a so called educated man. Nothing on the OP worth a note then ?

That's the OP you haven't actually commented on directly either.

I think it is a worrying situation, that calls for calmness and experience. Which makes me very glad there has been a change of leadership in the USA. I do appreciate that this probably isn't quite the response you were hoping for.

Ok, so admitting it’s worrying. are you in agreement with Harris’s ( sorry Biden) response.

He's made a public statement of support for a key ally in the region. I don't see any issue with that.

What more he might be doing is harder to assess. He hasn't consulted me about it, you see. So unlike you, I'm reserving judgement.

Why is it that every single thread that Scaremonger is involved in has to decend into him pushing his own personal political agenda?

Eastern Ukraine was robbed of a democratic government, which was primarily based on votes from that area, by an undemocratic western backed revolution. Now this puppet regime calls foul? Surely we cannot have it both ways. We want democracy except when it delivers a pro Russian outcome?

I’m inclined to say that you’ve re-written history here.

Eh? Have you just made that up?

So the “Russian” government of Ukraine was democratic?

NEXT 🤡
