Eat Out to Help Out

Great lifeline to lots of small businesses. Designed to nudge us back into the habit of going out.

But is that what’s behind the latest upsurge in infections. Too much “going out”?

The old conundrum.

Public Health v The Economy.

It is more likely to have increased due to several likely scenarios.

1. Selfish bar stewards who just don't give a shit and will do what they want how they want

2. There's no coincidence that it has increased since kids went back to school

3. Certain communities who will not go against their religious and cultural beliefs.

4. more people back in the workplace and using public transport

5. Those who insist on going abroad because they can't stand the thought of not going on their fun in the sun break and then picking it up whilst they're away or on the plane.

I don't see restaurants and pubs who steadfastly observe the rules as do their customers being the problem at all and I hope they get another chance at an eat out to help out incentive.

I went to my local yesterday lunchtime. Gave details, ordered from a hatch with screens, staff all in masks and we sat in the garden away from anyone. Our favourite, proper, old English country pub, a real locals place, freehold with the same landlord for the last 45 years and they are struggling and another closure could put them out of business. It's tragic.

It's fair to say the Government haven't got a clue what they are doing and it's also fair to say the opposition haven't either. At the end of the day, this is a complete clusterfuck and becoming very irritating now. I would love to know how this really started.... bats in a wet market my arse!

Short memory or selective 🤔
Nope. I’ve been defending kids against accusations that they are the sole cause.

I see you now acknowledge the part you played, whilst filling your face at the taxpayers’ expense.

Tad selfish if you don’t mind me saying Scara.

Plus the fact you frequently boast about not wearing a mask. Tut tut.

Well yes. All of the above will have contributed I’m sure.

Although I note that the one thing you enjoy doing is not a contributory factor. 😂

The fact is that everyone wants to get back to normal ASAP. But we have to accept that means there will be a public health cost. By which I mean - deaths.

spot on Herts. Nothing to do with Eat Out

And your proof for that statement?

Other than the fact you obviously enjoyed a few meals out at taxpayer expense?

If people are out and about, whether in a park, on the promenade or sat in a beer garden, the risk of infecting/being infected must increase. Common sense.

My point really is stop scapegoating. We’re all part of the problem. And all part of the solution.

Who made that comment about planks, motes and eyes?

Having been in quite a few establishments I observed the following.

Whilst most restaurants had moved tables so social distance between them was in order they were still allowing multiple households to sit at the same table. Without naming any, one had a table of 8 30-40 year old women who were clearly all friends but not from the same household and they were sat right next to each other. What is the point of spreading the tables to then allow no distancing within each table. As far as I am aware the rule was 6 indoors from just 2 households.

Also just last week I went in 3 different pubs and not one of them took our details for track and trace. One of them also allowed a group of about 10 teenagers to all sit at the same small table with no distancing.

Now I know these establishments are desperate for the money but it infuriated me that we have been through so much for nearly 4 months and then they say they are Covid safe when infact they are far from it.

If this is happening all over (which it most likely is,) then it's no wonder we are heading back towards lockdown.

Compare us to Wales where I went for a weeks holiday a couple of weeks ago and they were the most secure I have seen anywhere. No inside seating, outdoor marquees set up and following the rules to the book. It was nice to see the council relaxing rules so that they could all out temporary seating outside on the pavement, it felt very Mediterranean!

Too much socialising and not enough social distancing....
Schools could be a contributing factor....
If 1 kid gets it and say 500 in the school....
It can spread like wild fire....
Pods or no pods....
Young primary kids don’t know the meaning of social distancing...
Pupils in my school are hugging and kissing....
Some people were thinking it’s all over....

Personally I thought it was pathetic. It was either safe to go out or it wasnt. I'm not into fat fucks stuffing there face on the cheap, perhaps the govt wanted to kill them off?

I barely ever do it, but if I do I go to places that will be adhering to the rules, there are some pubs and restaurants who won't follow the rules and some patrons who won't. It's the usual few who spoil it for the majority.

I wouldn't be surprised if we have a pretty rigid lockdown again going forward, more like the original one, not now but as Winter closes in. This isn't going anywhere fast.

Let’s face it....
Uncle Boris hasn’t and isn’t handling this Pandemic very well.....
The Welsh and Scottish pm’s appear to be doing a far better job.....
A second complete lockdown and he’s fooked up big time....
I would suggest he resigns if that occurs....
He’s a clown wearing prime minister clothes

I’ve never boasted about wearing a mask, I wear one when required and when tending to my elderly and vulnerable father. Regards rishis eat out to help I think I had a subway one day and saved about £1,20. So once again your full of the proverbial

I agree with almost all of that, but given the incubation period, and the fact area spikes have been occurring for some time, I think schools haven’t been a major factor. But they will be.

Must say you are on form tonight Mex, bravo.

Answer is very simple. The goverment knows what it should do, but is sh*t scared of doing so as it would completely tank the economy. We have a choice (and I accept the stats are estimates), a 2% chance of getting seriously ill or dying, or a 25% chance of losing your job and/or watching your pension pot shrink substantially.

And the number one place to get infected the home and number two people visiting other people's houses so fuck all to do with going out for a meal.

Your first statement seemed to me to be a statement of fact, not just an opinion. In other words you were saying it was a nailed on certainty that Eat Out to Help Out could not have caused an increase in infection. When your statement is that unqualified I think it’s reasonable to ask you to stand it up. However I see you’re now saying it’s just your opinion, and not a fact at all.

My opinion is that it’s common sense that, if you encourage people to congregate in one place, then you’re increasing the risk of infection. How could it be otherwise?

But my point really was a push back against all the people who were so keen to categorically state who was to blame (kids mainly) whilst ignoring their own behaviour and contribution to the increase in infections.

Eat out? Tha’s tekking the piss that’s bloody luxury.I tell thee in Yarkshire folks are so skint they are eating boiled ferrets and turnips 7 days a bloody week.

I’ve been going out to the pub with my wife two to three times a week on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon or for a couple of hours after work. We have had to give our details every time and sat at a table and ordered via an app or at the table. The only times I have been concerned is when young people are around who have no idea about social distancing. They should close all pubs at 8.00 p.m
