England Cricketers

England (Root aside) just can’t bat, so yes they are gash. I would add Anderson and Stokes in there also.

Er.... we are gash. They have some world class players - a few more than our three outlined by Scara above. They have a wicket keeper. We have a bloke with gloves on. They have two or three natural captains. We have Joe Root who takes shite decision making to another level. We also have in Silverwood possibly the worst head coach ever. The Muggers of cricket management. I'm only surprised he hasn't asked for more elastication 🏝️

Australia are a decent side but not a great one. However, our batting and fielding (with a couple of exceptions) has been substandard for 3 or 4 years. And not helped by sub-standard coaching and captaincy and inadequate preparation for foreign tours

From my view point the Aussies have 3 great players, Smith, Lauberwhateva and Cummings. Add very very good players of starc, Warner and Lyon so that’s 6 probably word class players.
We have root, Anderson and stokes who are world class. On and off very good players in butler and broad maybe add Malan but the others are often poor. Leaving loads of pressure and certain players and a inability to click as a team, forger partnerships at even put the opposing teams under any sort of pressure. Very frustrating and I can only see then next few years been very poor viewing

England's openers have accumulated 133 runs between them in six innings now. You have absolutely no chance of winning a series in Australia with that kind of record.
It's quite difficult to assess how good Australia are because we just haven't given them any challenges at any point.

Just seen a graph that shows our 3rd highest run scorer of 2021……step forward EXTRAS……..absolutely disgraceful if true

Root, Stokes and Anderson, and how long will Anderson go on for? Not much longer I wouldn't have thought., I can't agree Butler is a great player, he's a terrible wicket keeper and a white ball batsman. I would put Foakes a s great as he is the best wicket keeper in the world at the moment and he has a good batting technique, far more suited to test cricket than Butler or Bairstow.

I would start with a base of Root, Malan, Stokes, Foakes, Anderson & Wood, I would add Robinson as he is a really steady bowler.

We have a lot of frontline bowlers out injured and Archer would definitely be playing if fit, but will he be coming back, how bad is his injury? Then there's Dom Bess and Craig Overton, so we just need those fit to select from.

So, we need to find 4 players just to put a decent XI out, we need a spinner who is better than who we pick at the moment and we need 2 openers and 3 Bowlers including a Spinner.. Where they are coming from I have no idea.

No offence Herts, but Foakes isn't the best keeper in the world.

England has a wealth of world class one day batsmen. However the dinosaurs at the ECB think that if you score too quickly them you'll fail in test cricket (even though the likes of India and Australia play their best players in all formats).

And that is why we are gash. The ECB formula seems to be that if an average county player can occupy his crease for hours whilst scoring barely any runs and showing no aggressive intent then he is good enough for the England test squad.

Mac, India and Australia don't play their test 11 in one dayers.

They have 4 or 5 who get in both. That's it.

Australia on their own patch are world class. We are currently lacking in basic preparation and organisation and the necessary mental toughness to weather a campaign down under and they are embarrassing us.

The priority for all countries in recent years has been white ball cricket and the standard of test sides has dropped across the board.

Australia have a couple of top class bowlers particularly on home turf but they are far from a great test side.

We arrived totally undercooked with a fragile top order and no decent spinner. This has been the same for a long time and despite trying many options there are no stand out candidates to take the place of Hameed, Burns & Leach.

On paper I'd suggest we have the players to give Australia a good game but we are so low on confidence we are getting battered . . . as an optimist with more time at the crease I'm pretty sure they can turn it round but time is obviously running out.

Root, Stokes, Bairstow & Buttler need to show why they are amongst the best in the world and at least post a score which will involve the Aussies chasing more than 150.

We all know they are more than capable of doing it.

Think they should have spent some proper time out in Australian conditions facing pace bowlers before launching into an Ashes series.
There’s a much better team in there somewhere. Feels like more of a lack of preparedness imo.
Poor Captain not ideal either.
Maybe they need some motivational training as well. Went out there like a defeated side. Lambs to the slaughter.
We’ve made the Aussies look much better than they actually are.
