Ennis

Latest news he was due back in training within a week to 10 days. Think he may start training this week. From the Gazette today...

In the last few weeks, Blackpool have been boosted in several areas with a number of key players returning to action, with Ennis being next in line - but patience may be required.
“He’s just been ticked off with the late stage rehab, but obviously he’s going to be fresh into training and we’re going to have to reintegrate him slowly,” Evatt said.

“Getting him up to match fitness and match sharpness will take time so we can’t put too much pressure on him.
“We don’t have the size of squad to play players in a reserve game or to set up a friendly - we have to get them fit on the training pitch or in games where points are at stake. It can be complex and difficult.
“We’ll do the best we can, and hopefully he’ll be back sooner rather than later, but we can’t put pressure on him at the moment, he needs time.”

We are looking to bring a striker in early Jan so presuming it’ll be a while before he is up to speed for 90 mins

Surely Ennis due to return this weekend .
Surely? Why is it surely?

The manager has already said that Achilles injuries take longer to heal due to restricted blood flow in that area, he also said they'll update when they're is an update to give.

But coz you want him back it's a surely?

No chance in Ennis getting rushed back,it looks and sounds more likely we’ll see a new striker signed before we see Ennis starting or playing large parts in games.
We’ve had some terrible luck with injuries this season.

Blimey, calm down. Semantics. I took it to mean 'hopefully'.

He’s just posted himself in his Blackpool kit on his Instagram story. Think that means he’s now ready to return to training🙌
Shall I post a picture of myself in gym gear?
Do you think that means I'll be back in the gym soon?
Think again 😉👍🏻

Haha I think there maybe a big difference from your regular Joe posting a picture and a pro footballer ;-)

With Ennis, it ties in with what Evo said about 10 days ago that he would return to training within 7-10 days.

Ennis posting that means he's back in training which is great news and of course Evo will be careful and introduce him slowly over the next month.

It does seem strange that he quite regularly isn't mentioned in the debriefs.
Worse injury than even the club thought?
Evo has mentioned him at least 3 or 4 times in the last month. He's back in training but needs more time to be ready for the bench. I suspect he may well travel to Ipswich.

The oystons have left the building, remembering the days of not paying players in the summer months, we have come along way not on the pitch yet but we will get there.
Not defending the Oystons , but the reduced wage in the summer was actually added to the wages throughout the playing season . The thinking behind this was that there was little income coming into the club during the summer . The players did not miss out financially.

It’s also interesting that a number of other clubs back then adopted the same model as many saw it as innovative - Port Vale for one 👍

All companies have boom and quiet periods throughout the calendar year. Retail booms during Christmas and boozers fly when England reach a sporting milestone.

How many people would be open to their PAYE wages 'flexing' with the business environment? Teachers getting 20% over the summer holidays perhaps?

All football did it up to the late 60s.

Jimmy Armfield used to tell the tale of going to the manager after he found out Stanley Matthews continued to get the full rate through the summer.

'He's a better player than you' was the response.

'Not over summer' said Jimmy.

It was a slimy Cherry idea to take wages below the NIC threshold.

So are you suggesting we rush him back and risk a recurrence of the injury?
If not … what are you suggesting?
I'm not suggesting anything I'm just responding to the comment " there's no rush" we have two fit strikers so clearly we need him back as soon as possible, that clear it up?

Not really. Absolutely everyone knows the striker situation and rushing Ennis back would be mental.

‘The players did not miss out financially’ I don’t think we can use that sentence when discussing the stains.

I personally wouldn't rush Ennis back too soon hence what happened to Taylor, this season is a bit of a write off after the last 2 defeats and we have other options, Next season we need him fit raring to go

I totally agree that we should not rush Ennis back but the Taylor reference is a little off. The 2 injuries had absolutely no connection; one was a muscle/ligament issue, the latest was a fractured metatarsal.

I don't think he will be rushed back, Evo has said as much.

Ennis will be no doubt raring to go and there is still all to play for this season.

I see us giving Ennis minutes as a sub through January early Feb to get him used to playing again and to build up his fitness before him being able to be a starter.

Like Finnegan, having Ennis back will be like a new signing.

Exactly what I was thinking . Can't say he was rushed back too soon when his new injury was unrelated cos he got clonked
