EU starting to panic at the possibility of no deal Brexit

I think the damage to the German car sector will be significantly more damaging to them, especially at a time when they will be expected to bail out the rest of the EU as it comes out of the pandemic. Just to add that I don't believe a no deal will happen for the very reasons outlined above

In 2019 ;-

EU market represent 54% of exported UK manufactured cars. Approximately 715,000 cars.

UK market represent 20% of exported German manufactured cars. Approximately 800,000 cars.

I doubt there will be a deal before the end of the year I expect a number of smaller deals to be done in the months after where it is in both sides interest to do so.

Blackpool voted for Brexit by a big majority. Just in case some of you have forgotten. Especially the exiles.

Maybe the next step should be to break off from the rest of the country? Not sure the point you're making.

No need to break away as from Jan 1st next year we will be free from following EU rules. It was on the news a while back but maybe you were asleep in your rocking chair and missed it lol.

Paying loads of cash into EU coffers , much of which go to pish poor countries who have nothing to offer in return and never will.

So where is your holiday home in the EU then ?

Permanent resident in Germany, it's where I live and work, that's how I can compare how British conflict politics have completely impoverished my home town and county, and German co-operation politics place people over business and have generated a far fairer society, where I am not just considered a resource for the ultra wealthy to exploit.

Your bitterness towards people who have a little more than you is blinding you from those who are really taking advantage of you.

I've always thought brexit was a spite vote.

Have you ever considered the economic nett benefit being a member offers in free frictionless trade and the sharing of resources such as scientific research amongst many other examples.
It's cost the taxpayer more in preparing for brexit than our entire historical contribution. Our EU contributions account for 1% of our annual budget it's absolute chickenfeed enable us to send and receive goods without any paperwork. The financial argument for leaving isn't very compelling.

Wow the financial benefit argument gets worse by the day.....

You think it's worse to spend money ensuring borders are properly staffed, IT systems are up to date, traffic flow is improved, burdens on importers and exporters are reduced and smuggling of drugs and weapons are targeted. Seems like good planning to me.

You think that traffic flow and the burdens on importers and exporters are improved by this rather than being in the single market and customs union. I doubt even the staunchest brexiteer could argue that.

But we're not in the single market because the UK voted to leave, so that isn't an argument. I'm not what you would call a staunch brexiteer, but having made the decision to leave it seems like common sense for the UK to streamline and update border controls and make procedures easier for international trade, which of course doesn't just involve intra-EU transactions. Most importantly money needs to be spent on strengthening the border to restrict the movement of drugs, weapons and terrorists.

That's funny during the campaign we were told by many leave advocates in the political world that we wouldn't leave the single market and would in fact strike a better deal.

Much of that expenditure between us and Northern Ireland although there was categorically going to be no border.

This funding is only for the border between Great Britain and the EU. You'll be pleased to know that spending on the Northern Ireland-EU border will be announced by the govt later.

Little point discussing this or trying to score points? We’ve got Brexit following a national vote, we are just going to have to get on and deal with it now.
Once Labour take power at the next election they can look to revoke it or raise a referendum again. EU would welcome the UK back as a net contributor despite the bluster and rhetoric.
Or if by some slim chance it has been a positive experience then carry on.

I know on a personal level this will cause me economic challenges as I trade across Europe and pre Covid travelled consistently throughout the year for business.
