Evo at Man United

Talking about Ian Evatt last night and one of the blokes I work with was saying Evo owes us as he had a nightmare game at Old Trafford on the last day of the season when we were relegated. I was in South Africa and only ever saw the score so would be interested to know others thoughts as I can't put myself through watching the highlights!!

Regardless of the score that day, and the final outcome EVERY pool player on that pitch that day walked out of Old Trafford as heroes in my eyes.
to go 1 - 2 up was simply stuff you could only dream about.

To be classed as the nations second team that season was a credit to each and every one of them.

even at 2 - 2 and the misfortune of an own goal we were staying up.

To have a subs bench of world beaters like Man Utd had at their disposal was cruel to say the least.

Evo was / is / and always will be considered the rock of the heart of the team.

in my humble opinion your mate knows nothing as he gave everything that day.

What a nonsense, we didn’t go down because of anyone’s performance at old Trafford on the last day. It was done and dusted well before then, that said Michael Owen really bugged me that day, he’d been kicking his heels on the bench and had to come on to finish us. I don’t think he played for them again after that 😩

Losing at home to West Ham and Wigan had more of a bearing - but I hated going to OT, never mind losing there. I couldn't bear to watch us have to give them a guard of honour.

I could have sworn we were still in with a shout of staying up Scaramanga ?
Thought there were about 4 or 5 that could have gone down that day.

a win and we were safe , a draw was seeing us at one point mathematically safe , a defeat and ....well we know the rest

Ridiculous ! Owes us sfa.

At the end of that match he looked absolutely crestfallen.
We responded with a loud, rousing rendition of "There's only one Ian Evatt".
Like all the stalwarts of that season's team, he owes us nothing. He was an absolute warrior.

We were challenging for a European spot when we were 2-1 up !!!!!!!!!

I wasn’t meaning the Utd game as per say, only the writing was on the wall with the other fixtures and the fact it was Utd at home celebrating their 19th title, we were always favourites to go down that day. It still hurts to be fair especially as it was Utd at home who really pissed me off as we were denied a stone wall pen to potentially go 3 up 😡

Oyston is the main culprit, no investment over the summer on training, chef, physio etc...

We played a high tempo game against teams spending millions on fitness, we just ran out of gas.

He had a good game, one mistake. Certainly not Evo's fault for that defeat. I would rather look a few games before at the ref who gave Blackburn a fecking free kick and then Kingson who made a massive howler right to gift them a goal. those 2 points dropped cost us massively

There's a big list of reasons for us being relegated that season.
Goals for Harewood at West Ham, result 0-0, and home to Man. City at 1-1 with 10 minutes to go. No way should either have been disallowed. Arsenal away, Ian Evatt won the ball a good yard outside the area, was sent off and a penalty awarded. It wasn't even a foul. Plenty of other poor refereeing decisions went against us too.
I think a couple of Ian Holloway's decisions cost us too, Aston Villa away already mentioned above, and at Everton away, 3-2 up with 20 minutes to go, took three of our more forward minded players off and replaced them with defenders. Everton went on all out attack and we lost 5-3.

man.utd home and man.city home we were cheated 6pts. lost to the referee

That bloody Tottenham game was the one. We were never going to go to Ferguson United away and get any sort of result although we give it all we had. No way can Evo be the reason.

Whether he had a RARE bad game or not shouldn't be remember let alone pile that sort of blame at Evo's door ffs. What should be remembered is the 1000% commitment he displayed in a tangerine shirt. The passion he showed and the utter commitment to the cause. Also his support to our fans during the boycott also. The man is a Blackpool FC legend in my eyes. The things I have mentioned are much of the reasoning many fans want him back at Bloomfield Road as manager
