Fan energy and the feelgood factor

We saw it come back a little near the end, although still wasn't like it can be given the season we've had and it not being in our hands.

However, it's something the club has generally either underestimated, misunderstood or just not helped create in the last 2 seasons, with some strange decisions and appointments.

It's all well and good SS and co saying they'll make difficult choices and pick the manager they think will do it, even if it's unpopular, but there is something for what fans want and what brand they want to see.

In the last 2 seasons and tbh in most managerial appointments so far we've had most of them go against what large sections of what fans would want.

Making a positive appointment who is also competent and plays decent football is surely achievable, with a fresh start you can really build some positive momentum not only with ticket sales if marketed right and maybe a ST deal happens, but also the energy in the stands can be a game changer, it really can make the difference and help drive players on.

This season and others with someone unpopular or who has to win back trust, it's never going to excite the masses or make as good an atmosphere unless they prove themselves, which it takes doing really well to do. They then get less time and patience in the bad spells.

I really do think the club has missed a trick in the area in recent seasons and it really should be something a fan owner gets right. It would be relatively easy to really get the fans fired up and get thr place as full as possible.

I get you'll never please everyone at once, however there's certain obvious things that have been done that I just can't see that many would have done.

This is not necessarily calling for NC to go, I do like the guy and he can be good in some ways, but he's not going to excite the masses before or during a season unless we're somehow right up there. A big plus about a fresh start is you can see all that energy and enthusiasm come right back and it can play a huge role in success.

This is just to say we really should have thought more about what is obvious to me, creating a feelgood factor with positive appointments and trying to fill the stadium with positive pricing etc. The problem when you keep going back to managers is when it doesn't work you get the sort of feeling we have now, rather than a building towards something from someone who's never let us down, so has no baggage.
