Starters for 10 - The Only Ones ‘Another Girl Another Planet’

Eric Clapton - Layla 👍

Might record a medley of them ...

Money and Time are both brilliant on Dark Side of the Moon.
I'd also say Hotel California - Eagles
and Let it Be (album version) - Beatles

I thought 'I'm Free' was just Daltrey. I must have been wrong.
The track was on the Who Album Tommy in 1969 (track written by Pete Townshend I think), and sung in the 70's movie by Roger Daltrey as you say.
It's such a simple riff, but a very good one

NIB - Sabbath
Rock n roll - Led Zep
Bad boy boogie (Live) - AC/DC
Stormy Monday (Live) - Allman Bros
Woman - Free

and many many more

Yes, sorry. I was mixing it up with 'Giving it all Away', written by Leo Sayer.

Midnight Rambler Rolling Stones.
Jeepster T Rex
Johnny B Goode (it was released in 1958 FFs)
Since I've Been Lovin' You Led Zep (difficult to pick just one out)

Layla: Eric Clapton ( Derek and the Dominoes album version)
Crossroads: Cream.
Voodoo Child: Jimi Hendrix.
Walk on hot coals: Rory Gallagher.
Purple Rain: Prince.
Heavy Metal Kids: Todd Rundgren.
Complete Control: The Clash.
Johnny B Goode: Chuck Berry. “The Riff Man”!
Bo Diddly Hey! : Bo Diddly. Where my love of a guitar riff all started, thanks to having a brother 10 years older with a red Dansette and all the early R&R records.
PS. Nearly forgot. How soon is now: The Smiths. I reckon Johnny Marr listened to Bo Diddly‘s “Mona” before riffing that one out! Superb!!

Bo Diddley ! Great shout ! Pretty much The Man in terms of the blues-rock crossover.
I managed to see him give a super show in Oldham in 1991.

AK I’m not a jealous guy, But! Would’ve loved to have been at that gig! There’s some great footage of him on YouTube from the early days! What a fackn legend. Still dig his tunes out occasionally and rev em up. 👍

If you are a fan of Bo Diddley, then you might like this... Florida Swamp Blues.
It’s Creepin’ Blues by Anthony “Packrat” Thompson and his Smokehouse blues band. They have been playing together for more than 30 years, have made 5 albums and are 60+ but are still quite a small bar room band. CDs are hard to come by, but they are on YouTube.
