Favourite Elvis track?

Crikey...How do you pick one...

Way Down

I did think of Heartbreak Hotel, which is probably quite appropriate since we exited the EU recently....

I wonder what the King would have made of Brexit 😞

My wife’s playing some stupid game now I mentioned Elvis Presley and she said a group that begins with the last letter _Y . Ya zoo followed by orchestral manoeuvres in the dark. We’re on the Kinks now. Alexa never worked hard.

I'm pretty sure that he and his family would have approached Brexit with Suspicious Minds, Biff. He'd have been All Shook Up at the prospect of crashing out with no deal, that's for sure.

😆🤣

On a serious note though, Elvis is a stark reminder of how life outside the EU could take a significant turn for the worse. It's difficult to know quite where the Anglo/US relationship is going with Trump at the helm and with his "A good deal is a deal that hurts the other side" attitude I'm not sure it's the best time to be engaged in serious trade negotiations really.

Trump will be in a foul mood for weeks now, after his early exit from the Welsh Open. That will mean Welsh lamb is off the trade deal menu, at the very least. It will be a trade deal with a Wooden Heart, I suppose.

I can't believe this, nobody of sound mind under the age of at least 70 would surely have the brass neck to even contemplate the notion of posting an Elvis thread, let alone actually go & do it.

He did some good stuff post army but nothing beats the early Sun recordings for me.
As mentioned 'Baby let's play house' recorded when he was a raw 20 year old is one classic that even now stirs the blood!

The Sun recordings were brilliant, but his early RCA stuff was pretty good too, like the 56 sessions.

Went to Sun studios some years ago and they’ve not changed since the first recordings made by the Millionaire Quartet of Elvis,Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash & Jerry Lee Lewis, incredible experience. Had a chat with an old blues guy in a record store on Beale Street who knew Elvis before he “made it’ he was 90 and said Elvis hung around the store most days and then one day he said “he was gone boy,he was gone! In other words he’d cracked it! Memphis the home of Rock & Roll, great city.

It’s on my bucket list to go to Memphis!

One of the first records I bought was Wooden Heart, and I have been known to sing it and play the mouth organ to it on an open mike. However, one of my favourites tracks is from an early LP 'Something for Everybody' , Put the Blame on me.
