Favourite female radio DJ

Annie Nightingale way back in time, Auntie Jo Wiley, but more recent ‘Dotty’ on the 1Xtra breakfast show, great features, full of energy and fun, plus great music( none of the worn out Smashie & Nicey discs played on most radio shows) Alas she is moving to pastures new at the end of July. 🙁 Good luck to her.

I’ll have to try Dotty then before she goes. Got a bit fed up of radio 1in the morning, too much inane chatter for me.

I agree about Radio1 Lala, but as you’ll probably know 1Xtra is the sister station based primarily around Hip Hop, R&B, Grime, Reggae, etc. Enjoy.

I used to enjoy the lunchtime show back when it was Edith Bowman and Colin Murray on Radio 1, so a fair while ago - think they took over from Mark and Lard?

Now I'd probably have to say Sara Cox as I listen to her on way home from work so I associate her with happy thoughts!

My daughter used to love Colin and Edith, yeah, they were good 👍
I listen to Sara on my work walk home 👍👍

Annie after dark, that was a few years ago, once met Annie Nightingale at a church hall disco

Only really listen to radio 6 in the car now, so Lauren Laverne and Mary Anne Hobbs, some good, some dross, but that is the joy of six
Never even tried Radio 6, will check it out 👍

Only really listened to BBC, and only when commuting as a rule.
My immediate thoughts when I saw the o/p was Annie Nightingale when I was younger, and Sarah Cox/Jo Whiley more recently.
I like Liza Tarbuck as a presenter, but for me there's a little too much chat and not enough music, but maybe that's just me being a miserable old git.
I know Sarah Cox has her critics, but I found her OK

Thank XXXX nobody has mentioned Zoe Ball.

I like Mary Ann Hobbs although she can be an irritation and has oft been know to describe a new release as a record that has 'dropped this season'.

Cerys plays some really interesting stuff beyond Peruvian pan pipes.

Im not being sexist but all 3 are behind John Peel and Mark Radcliffe.
Sad isn't it when you have to justify your preferences. I have Radio 2 on most of the day but am not a fan of Ball or Cox and prefer it when they have male stand ins. Genuinely struggling to think of a female I really like. Not sexist just a personal choice.

Definitely not ‘So ey’ Ball. Everything is ‘Amazing’. Not at all over the top. Don’t listen to R2 now until Ken’s on at 9.30.

Only listen to R2 from 10.29 till 10.45/50, Mon to Fri.

It doesn't half play some poop. Lighthouse Family last time I mistakenly left the DAB tuned to the station. I do intend to get a new DAB as that one didn't survive the drop.
