Favourite sausage shop / sausage

Off till Tuesday now and having a jaunt out to Skipton tomorrow followed by a pitstop at Clitheroe on the way back to visit Cowmans butchers aka sausage shop.
About 100 varieties of sausage, what is not to like !!!
Have you been ?
And what is your favourite sausage shop or sausage?
Pork and parmesan for me 🥰

Best I’ve had, 2019 Easter on Chester Racecourse at the food festival. I’ve been drooling since as the event had been cancelled twice & now may happen in August. Given I’m not a massive sausage fan, but the mere thought is making me hungry. 😄

Never really been a fan of the sausage. I mean I'll eat them on a brekky or a BBQ but however you dress them up with pretence of "quality" they are still a bit sad and I'll swap them in a heartbeat for your bacon 🥓🥓🥓 mmmmm Bacon...........

Cumberland!!

Can't believe Im the first to mention the king of sausages....

I do recall a wonderful Cumberland from my yoof, & I have been endlessly trying to find one as good...

There was an awesome sausage shop in Carnforth, but sadly the two old brothers who ran it retired about 10yrs ago...

I am still searching for the ultimate sausage, I know how it tastes, I just cant find it, ... & may never 😭

Been to Cowmans many times. If you get several different flavours, the lady who serves you will write down on the wrapping paper what the flavour is. My favourite is Pork and Black Pudding. For Lincolnshire sausage,it has to be the butchers at the bottom of Steep Hill in Lincoln City.

Went to Clitheroe in the caravan 2 weeks ago and tried Cowmans. I couldn't believe how much choice there was and I felt like a kid in a sweetshop.

I got 3 flavours - honey and mustard, lemon and chilli and apple and cider. Really nice and can't wait till we go back there in June.

One of the best sausage I have ever tasted was off Keswick market and it was pork and marmelade. We originally went to get the black pudding one but they had sold out. We decided to get the marmelade one and they were incredible.

Closer to home I find Marton Meats plain pork sausages absolutely delicious.

I shall make a trip at some point as I love a sausage - and a pork pie. So the mentions of that shop in Skipton means it looks like I'm having a pork-based road trip sometime soon 😂

Now I'm back north and living behind the lines in Leyland we have an excellent butchers on the market here and their sausages are superb. Standard pork, nothing fancy but they are spot on. I admit I'm also a fan of the Waitrose pork and apple, very nice.

The pie shop in Skipton is our first stop. Used to take my daughters there a lot when they were little. Now my youngest has called me asking to go to Skipton for a pie 😂 hence the day out. Unbelievable pies.
I intend to get a selection of sausages from Cowmans on the way home, beef and beer is definitely on the list 😃
Happy sausage days 👌

Lishmans in Ilkley do some great sausages. Worth a visit while you're in Skipton.

The pub being talked about in Skipton is the Castle. Great lunches there, when open.

There used to be a butcher on the corner of Mere Road and Whitegate Drive, now gone, and their Cumberland Sausages were to kill for. I used to pre order a load if I was coming to Blackpool, for use in my pub in Bradford.

Prepares joke about Lala liking a sausage n cider....

Sid James is alive and well.

My local butcher does some great sausages. Pork, chili, garlic and fennel is a particular favourite. Goes very well in a sausage casserole with herby/lemony dumplings.
He is indeed alive and well and living next door to Nigel Farage in South Shore (guffaw)

Jumbo with chips and curry...
Cumberland great for a casserole type thing...
Pork for full English...
Latter 2 need to be butcher bought ...👍

I'm the same with Cottage Pie, Tony's in Wolverhampton in the sixties and seventies was a cracker, his Hamburgers were the best, too. But as far as sausage is concerned, Cumberland or a thick Pork.

Huddlestons in Windermere, Cumberland made as a link, we served them to our guests and I loved em hot, cold, main meal, breakfast, butties.

Now I'm veggie, Cauldron Vegetarian Lincolnshire style. We have even converted some of our carnivore family to them, just good food

😂😂😂 I’m aware of the playful connotations I may have evoked!
Me too LALA (but joking apart I have been to the shop ,used to rep that area ) pork & cider for me ,with a glass of cider on the side 😜. (Over in Spain though I do like chorizo ).
