Favourite striker: Bamber, Ellis or Ormerod?

Brett was different league to Bamber and Ellis (both good, but neither top level strikers). Brett was good with both feet too!

All had different qualities. Ellis was a natural finisher in the box, but was bit less prolific than the other two. Bamber looked awkward at times but scored the most goals. Brett never stopped running and often made something out of nothing. It is Brett for me, firstly because he played and scored in every division for us, including the PL and secondly, because his striking partnership with John Murphy was the best I had seen since Hatton and Walsh

Hatton & Walsh were tremendous, backed up by Finnigan & Spence around that time.

Ellis for me because he was my first BFC Hero (yes some of us are a bit younger than others 😀)

Very difficult to judge !
But I loved the swagger of Tony Ellis (but he only had one foot ) but have to agree with some on here when he came down the left then cut inside the hair on my neck stood up in anticipation of that right foot scoring ,
Then there was big Dave as said great target man scored some great goals !
Brett loved his effort and his never say die attitude (loved him when simmo was in the side ,but could not forgive him for going to nob end (but be did redeem himself when he came back )!
So have to say of the three chosen it would have to be Tony Ellis (because he hurt the nobbers so much when he signed)👍.

Ellis was the most technical of the 3 and would score some great goals.
Bamber was a serious goal poacher and strong.
Brett edges it for me; grit, tenacious, and would up his game when playing against better players.

I remember when Brett first came to us very raw, but I was always disappointed if he was not on the team sheet, it was worth the admission fee just to watch him. He soon became a regular though. Had my doubts when he came back to us but again he didn't let us down, so for me it's Brett.

That was the question a mate (Man United) asked me earlier today.

I know, what kind of question is that? It'd be easier choosing my favourite child.

This is what I replied...

Bamber - Looked ancient and ungainly but it felt like he scored almost every chance he ever got. Loved him.

Ellis - The King. Oozed class. And never did interviews which made him seem other worldly. Loved him.

Brett - Scruffy on and off the pitch. Worked his bollocks off. Willing to get hurt in the process. Goal machine for a couple of seasons. Loved him.

If I had to choose a favourite it would be Brett. On the basis of him scoring in every division for us.

But if I could choose to play like one of those players? The King!

Who was your favourite?
There was only one King. He played for us for 10 years in the top two divisions.

Ormerod just because of the impact he had on this club and actually the way he still loves it - you can tell when he's on commentary duties on Radio Lancs how much he still loves it.
