Feel ripped off

£28 per month

100m mb broadband with Virgin

ALL Sky/ Virgin channels via another source for a very small yearly fee .....

l think you can do a lot better and there will be plenty on here telling how to do it for tuppance. 😄

Sounds scandalous Michelle.
I pay £21 per month for Vodafone's super, duper fast broadband & could add £8 for unlimited calls but don't because we never use the landline.
I wouldn't expect to therefore pay a further £90+ like you for full sports coverage. Loads far cheaper streaming options out there that no doubt you'll be advised in response by other posters shortly.
I know how easy it is to haggle with sky & threatening to leave usually get costs dramatically reduced. Are you contracted in to virgin at that price?

I’m not under contract it just continues and continue to up their prices
I want to do things legally of course but I’m not prepared to pay that each month
Can anybody recommend another company apart from sky sports or virgin media that do the broadband phone and tv/sports package please that’s cheaper than the £113.50 they are currently charging me

I'm with Virgin, landline and broadband for £48 a month. An absolute rip off and I will too be moving before too long.

Their Internet is good like

You’re getting ripped off 🙁

I’ve got Virgin, I have 100mb broadband, land line and all the tv channels including sky sports (no movies) for £55 a month.

Do your research (uSwitch, Go Compare) and call them telling them you’re going to cancel because you can find it cheaper with another company by X amount then I’m sure they will do a deal.

I am on Sky Q, 2 boxes all channels £38.50 a month.

Broadband is with Plusnet £25 a mth (fibre)

Sounds v expensive what you are paying for.

Here in Australia, unlimited fast speed broadband is about $100 a month (£50) and Foxtel for movies and sport is about $70 (£35) a month...

I was with Virgin for years for everything. Just renewed it each year then realised I was paying over £100, which was mainly TV and in particular sports and films. Rang up and said I would go to Sky and they immediately dropped it to £60ish. Did that for a year but use alternate sources for TV now.

michelle,
I have Virgin as well - I need it for the cable broadband round here - and have managed to do a bit of phone haggling a couple of times by threatening to go elsewhere and got the price down a bit. However the package I have got now - which is about £80 pm for me has Sky sports but not in HD - but it's not too bad. As I said I need the broadnband speed which none of the others offer.

2 virgin boxes all channels sky sports bt sports movies etc . Supposedly the best fibre broadband and a sim with unlimited everything which gave to daughter . £79 a month . I Said I was going to cancel and they offered me that in the end .

How many boxes you got Michelle?...we have 3 all channels and get 200mb (sometimes faster) broadband and a mobile with unlimited calls and data for a bit less than you are paying (£90)...as others have said you have to haggle a bit

I pay £73 per month for my Sky Q Box with HD channels, sports, Netflix, phone, broadband and BT Sports and a further £8 per month for Amazon Prime which includes films.

I'm also paying £73 Michelle with Virgin, 100 MB broadband, anytime calls, BT Sport and they threw Amazon prime in 12 months for free.
Just ring up say you want to give a months notice as you've had a good offer from Sky, check on u switch to see what Sky are offering.
They'll transfer you to another department and knock £30-£40 off your monthly bill for 12 months.

As TAM has said, if you are with Sky you can always do a deal if you threaten to leave. Over the last few years I got subscription for all channels down from £112 to £54, which includes a Sky Q T box and 3 miniboxes for viewing in other rooms. I prefer BT for my broadband / phone which costs an additional £28 per month for its infinity service, with a minimum 80mps. Because I have been with them so long I got BT sports chanels for £5.

Do these cheaper deals include both Sky and BT sports.
I am paying similar to Michelle with full sports package and 5hatthat was after negotiating with them!
Will terminate my contract in January and use the one off packages mentioned on here.
Even includes all EFL games too

Best thing you can do is say no to their first approach and stick to your guns

They’ll keep calling - guaranteed

Don’t pay more than £50 Michelle !

Agreed. Even after actually going through with the cancellation last time Sky were back. £59 per month for full Sky package, phone and broadband.

By the way comparing virgin broadband to talk talk is like comparing a beefburger to a Chateaubriand...I will let you decide which is which
Only if you are on Virgin Cable which will give speeds up to about 500 , its like a Gigantic LAN setup - If you are on the Fibre package then speeds will be comparable depending on the Back hall

We don't have Cable in our area, I get 75 on a 76 circuit on TalkTalk . My next door neighbour gets 45 on a 76 BT circuit - Its all down to the Backhall servers you are connected too

I pay 69 for phone , broadband, sky q, sky sports and netflix. I only negotiated last month and took it right to the end threatening to quit. They actually started the process of cancelling it, i could hear them tapping on the keyboard. Hence i immediately panicked, broke out into a sweat and collapsed like a bag of sh1t and agreed the deal.
Im sure they would have been back though.

I’m with sky and pay £88 for 2 Sky Q boxes and everything, movies, sports, kids plus Netflix and fibre broadband. I did re-negotiate. I think yours is commercial though isn’t it Michelle? I used to have pubs and Sky sports was unbelievably expensive.

Yep, I will be stopping my contract with Virgin as I am happy with your service highfield
Appreciate the positive feedback mate. When I first got a subscription I tested it for a month, then cancelled Sky Sports, Movies etc as I was happy with the service on IPTV. This coming from someone who used to be a bit of a 'TV snob' who said I would never cancel my sky sports 🙈

Sorted my parents SKY out the other day didn't even have to haggle just told them I want a deal and what's on offer.

Michele some good advice on here Please do this.
I tell everyone you need to threaten to leave and renegotiate the deal when the contract is coming to an end.
Tell them you do not need crazy fast speed and their prices are way too high & because of covid you need to budget.
If they do not cut the bill by at least 30% ditch them.

You’re getting ripped off 🙁

Oops just realised this is quite an old thread🤣,
Anyhow hope you got sorted Michele

Go to cancel your contract and keep insisting on canceling and your subscription should fall. My sky bill went from £90 to £30 using this method.

My contract finished on the 1st August with Sky
I'm now getting Q installed (next week) with 2 multi boxes, entertainment, sports, movies, Netflix, unlimited telephone calls & fibre broadband for £66 a month.
No cost for the box or installation and i'm already getting a steady 70mbps download

Dont forget....The CSR's are all professional liars and they will say this offer doesn't show up on their system.....or that offer is not on anymore.....but just be nice and keep pushing

I did the same 2 weeks ago, said i have Virgin on my street and are doing the same deal but for half the price - which is true.

Was paying 140 for sky and 10 for netflix. Now pay 68 for both combined for next 18 months. The lady told me to set a reminder in 17 months to phone back and renegotiate again before it goes up again. 10 minute phone call has saved me approx 1500 quid.

That sounds good B_Side - I might quote that to Sky.
We'll be moving house soon because we need a granny flat (mother in law in poor health so moving in with us in a few months - can't wait!!)
We will need broadband in the annex (not for her necessarily), but the current owner says her Sky boxes don't give her broadband in the annex because it's too far from her Sky point in the house?
We've never had Sky (BT in present house), so what would we have to do to ensure the broadband reaches the annex (about 10 yards from the house)??

Just goes to prove you get fuck all for loyalty with companies be it car/house insurance, utilities, Tv/phone/Internet etc and when your deal is up time to negotiate a new contract.
Everyone should pay the same and you'd know where you stand why should I pay less for products than the elderly couple next door because I can be arsed changing.
Rip off Britain

You will need some sort of signal booster, extender or home plugs.
1st thing to try is a cheapish extender if that doesnt work look at more expensive solutions. Sky may offer you a cheap one for free if they are feeling generous?

If not would try this 1st as its on offer & is decent.

There are cheaper ones but i would say this has a decent chance of working.

The good thing about buying from amazon is you can send stuff back within a month or so if it doesnt do the job or you are not happy with it. I probably send back 20% of what i buy
You may have to pay postage but that will only be around £4 so its almost try before you buy.
Friends have bought cheap ones £15-£20 & they have not been good enough.
If this didnt work you would probably need to spend over £100 on something imo?
