Finding Jack Charlton

It was so sad seeing the shell of a man, who suffered so deeply with dementia.
The bond between he and Paul McGrath stood out as did his spat with O'Leary.
The thing I took from the documentary was that he was a man of the people and was deeply hurt with the rejection from the FA. Probably too much like Clough in not being a yes man.

Agree it was a very good documentary

Will have a look at this, seemed like a cracking bloke. The dementia issue in football is really shocking I can see the heading being banned in the future

But Bobby very rarely headed the ball and has been diagnosed with dementia too.
There maybe a link but with the coatings on the balls nowadays they dont end up as heavy at the end of a match as they used to when it was raining or muddy

They practised heading a lot in training in those days

A moving documentary, I never liked the guy but after the tv film , thought he was a sound man, and a proper man manager.

Didn't particularly like Scotsman but fake Irishman Ray Houghton singing who put the ball in the England net ..me
It was a moving documentary though but ignored his playing career and just concentrated on Ireland.

It’s a documentary entirely about his Republic or Ireland time in reality So it’s quite one dimensional as that is far from all that his life was about. It barely touched on the huge fall out with Bobby and why that occurred , largely ignored his playing career and there are many other criticisms I could make BUT I thought it was excellent 👍
