Five Years of Heroes

Just a bit of fun to while away the time ahead of the play-offs.
Take five separate years that you've been supporting the 'Pool and name your favourite player in each of those seasons. I go back as far as 1966/67 but I'm going to choose from a range:

1967/68. Tony Green
1968/69. Tommy Hutchison
1974/75. George Wood
2000/01. Brett Ormerod
2002/03. Richie Wellens.

No point in asking for a favourite player for every year you've been watching - it'd never end. But, five years seems reasonable. I hope you'll all offer up some gems.

1971/72 Alan Suddick
1974/75 Mickey Walsh
2006/07 Wes Hoolahan
2010/11 Charlie Adam

My list picks my favourite/most admired and I think hardest working players through every decade I have supported them
1969-70 Fred Pickering
1974-75 Mickey Walsh
1976-77 Bob Hatton
1986-87 Paul Stewart
1991-92 Paul Groves
2000-2001 Super Brett
2004-05 Martin Bullock
2007-08 Andy Morrell
2009-10 David Vaughan
2020-2021 Jerry Yates

I often wished many of these lads had played in the same team just for one match - there are many others and I would like to thank them all for much poeasepure over the last 50 years

I like your approach. Martin Bullock did put in the yards, as you say.

no years to give but my five

Tony Green.
John Murphy [always prefeered him to Brett]
Richie Wellens
Wes Hoolahan
Charlie Adam

need to give more of the later players credit.

It's interesting that those of us of a certain age invariably have a gap in their heroes from the early 70s through to the late 90s if not 2000s.

yeah it is. As some-one mentioned above, I too was a big fan of Andy Garner and also David Eyres but there's only so many you can pick and the memory is fresher of the more recent ones. I really loved Murphs, Wes was a genius and Wellens had it all.
