Flag Flying Days

Not offended, just doesn't see the point is how I read that.
He doesn't see the point, yet wants to make the point. He's also talked about tolerance on the subject too. Find it rather odd that some-one can claim to have pride in their country but doesn't want to antagonize people in his country by waving a flag in his country. Ah well, whatever.
Btw, you recovered from your hangover yet? If so, perhaps you can re-visit my comment on the legends thread. Only teasing. 🤣

Is it only the more liberal viewpoint you pick up on? Seems to me that you don't see the point in an awful lot of stuff, yet you constantly and repeatedly make the point.

Regarding the legends thing, I just have higher standards 😉 😂

It’s not unique to the Uk you know, it doesn’t matter where you travel in the world they all fly their flags with pride, it seems it’s only in the Uk that we have the usual suspects getting upset. If you have been waving the flag of the EU around for the last several years and now find it offensive to see the Union Jack flying high then that just makes you a hypocrite , speaking of which wheres CAT ?
The usual suspects.. Hummm...
Do you mean like your good self, Scara? Because your views are as predictable (different but equally predictable) as the opposing ones. As for waving the flag of the EU, that's risible. Anyway, have a good evening and UTP!

I quite like it when we are doing things for state occasions and London 2012 was full of them without any sense of nastiness; time and place and all that.TELEMMGLPICT000223158321_trans_NvBQzQNjv4Bq92hKO6jAtmPrz4xYdDrmemTZcc1a2CSL5KvcSFGJWMk.jpg

mmmm... liberal or leftie? And with regards to flying the flag, it's not me that doesn't see the point is it? It's not me that called it futile is it? It's you lefties that are relentlessly negative about this country.
Oh and you know damn well that you misread my post don't you. 😆

No problem with any of this, it's when it's trying too hard so all buildings have to fly a flag every day and not just on special occasions. For me, it actually lessens the impact.

Its like they need to compensate for something by flag waving...

Not negative about this country at all. Not accepting incompetence at the top as 'well, that's Boris for you'. I want the best. I clearly don't have it at the moment.

Accepting that we're led by idiots and putting up with it because they have a blue rosette is actually damaging the country far more than raising concerns.

I agree. Idon't like being mandated to do anything like this stuff. If you want to fly it, fly it, if you don't, don't.

As @Lala said it's a none issue and shouldn't be something which is used to make us squabble.

The Union flag is traditionally flown from government/ civic buildings on certain days eg. Queen's birthday, St. George's day etc.

Now the guidance is to fly the flag all year round.

Is this significant in any way?
It is thev norm in most other countries, so I think we should do it

I'm all for flying the flag, but we are British not Yank and we have official days for flying the Union Flag. I'm sick of the bloody Yankee influence.

I genuinely cannot think of one person being offended by out national flag at the same time I don't know anybody who walks around " bursting with national pride"
I like being British but do t necessarily want to see the flag everywhere . I thought we were a bit more understated and classy about these things
Agree with Lytham about virtue signaling and distraction ,its a non issue
