Foodbank Collection 11 September

Just an early notification that BST will be doing our next foodbank collection before the Fulham game on 11 September.

As stated in our monthly Members Newsletter, BST Committee Members will be on hand between 12.30 and 2.15 p.m. in the Armfield Club reception area next Saturday to take receipt of any donations you wish to make . Whilst tinned food is especially welcome, we will be able to find a home for ANYTHING you feel able to give, so please do drop in if you can.

From this month, for the first time, we are also planning to lay on a home collection service for those of you who wish to donate but aren't able to come to the drop-off point in person. If you want to take advantage of this, please contact Francis Charlesworth on memberships@blackpoolsupporterstrust.com and we will come to you.

Can you take frozen meals….? Happy to donate a few cases (60 plus meals) if you can, I can deliver.

We got a bit of clarification from Blackpool Foodbanks re your question …

‘We do accept frozen foods but We cannot accept if we don’t know when it was frozen as we have to record dates for food hygiene purposes.’

Priority foods are:

Tinned vegetables
Tinned meat / meatballs
Tinned stew
Tinned fish
Jars of cooking sauces
Tinned potatoes & instant mash
Tinned spaghetti / ravioli
Macaroni cheese
Tinned hot dogs
Beef casserole/ stewed steak
Long life milk
Pasta
Pasta n sauce pots / pot noodles
Teabags / coffee
Tinned rice pudding

I've no doubt that there are some folk who do this but also know the majority are desperately in need of a little help. Those helping should be applauded in my opinion.

Yep, it happens. But do you know who I feel sorry for…. Their kids! They are the ones who suffer and I’ll gladly stick my hand in my pocket to help. Of course there are cases that aren’t genuine, but there are masses of hungry families who are struggling. I’ve done well over the last 18 months and if I can give something back I will, and I have! Sitting there bleating isn’t going to fix things. Help, donations and a little bit of understanding and compassion is.
