Football returns 9/5

I support Shalke as went to watch them back in 1991 when I toured the area with FC Rangers. We stayed in Bottrop which is twinned with Blackpool. Had a great time.

Big Dortmund fan. Was in Germany on a school trip when Dortmund knocked United out of the champions league (I want to say 1997?)

Me and some mates bought Dortmund scarves and wound the handful of United fans up in our class with them the rest of the trip. Always had a soft spot for them since

German football, nah, not for me . Not sure why ,just doesn't grab me . Far prefer La Liga, just love the atmosphere of Spanish football . It's only downside is no alcohol in the stadiums. Sin alcohol.

Karlsruhe, there in 2007 when they got promoted to the Bundesliga, now trying to stay in Bundesliga 2

Cologne for me, when they played Forest on a ploughed field in the European cup. Harold Schmacher and all.

Not for me either more one sided than the Jock League Bayern have been 14 x champions in 20 years and won the last 7.

Helps if you’ve been following the league
I prefer it to the Prem personally

TAM, I know this has probably been covered in many threads over the years .... but I know you've been out there quite a bit. If you had to choose 3 grounds to visit, which would you recommend please? Have only been to FC Koln.

Not been to Bayern but of the 10+

1/ Dortmund for the experience of the Yellow Wall
2/ Schalke for the atmosphere
3/ St Pauli for a very different experience - very punk / community / liberal and in it's time quite revolutionary approach to the football club model

Note don't stay too near the last two - Cologne or Dusseldorf far better bases and within an hour or so's train ride
