France Again (you couldn’t make it up)

You can dress it up any way you like, but the bottom line is that France has declared a non-military war with us, whether it be vaccines, financial services, shellfish or electricity. They are on a mission to damage the UK. What kind of trading partner is that? Any Brit who continues to buy anything French or go on holiday there needs to have a word with himself.

As we know all too well joe sadly one or two on here will be supporting the French actions over this. 🙄🤬

Too right Jaffa. I think I see the German teddy bear army coming over the hill as we speak?

I have repeatedly said you cannot trust the French. They are using every aspect of Brexit to stir up trouble for the UK on the slightest pretext, just for sheer devilment. But the Channel Islands have little other option than French leccy. If they really do cut off the supply, then that is an act of aggression that warrants taking over French owned utilities in the UK, such as EDF Energy and the Suez-owned water companies etc. Frankly, the French can keep the bust Eurostar train service, we will just brick up the Channel Tunnel.

An incredible threat made to human beings , cruel and monstrous. It is about time macron and his goons grew up. They have significant threats and problems from such as Marine Le Penn, islamic fundamentalism and the threat to the eu project from such things as its shambolic performance in relation to Covid and immunisation. Macron may not be about soon to deal with any trade war with the UK. I certainly agree with the comment that France has declared a non milatary war with the UK.

I know at least one Jersey based Seasider.

It's time we handed those channel islands over to France in keeping with the rest of the Empire handovers. They are an embarrassment to Britain. First, they let Hitler invade them. Then they fiddle tax for donkeys years and now they can't even keep the lights on. Get shot.

No thoughts about what the people who live there might want to do?

Typical EU mindset.

Yer lets go all the way and hand back Gibraltar and while we’re at it the Falklands islands after all only 250 service died for their country protecting them.

What a pathetic statement BHOK although I must admit it was half expected from someone who always supports another country over the UK every time.

How ironic your statement is given the British Government didn't even give them the right to vote in the EU referendum, despite the obvious impact it would have on their markets and the problems you are reading about now!

Why would the Channel Islands’ people have been given the vote in the 2016 EU Referendum? The Channel Islands are self-governing and have never been in the EU. Just like the Isle of Man, they are not part of the United Kingdom and chose not to join the EU in a vote back in the 1970s.

If they're self governing, why are we bothered about what the French and them are arguing about? It's like us getting involved in a dispute between Italy and Malta.

I don't think it's arguing about it. It's just highlighting another example of the idiotic, bullying and aggressive way Macron has been acting.
Who needs enemies when you've got so called friends like him. He won't be around much longer anyway.

Macron looks like he’s trying his best to go out in a blaze of hatred and hypocrisy.

Macron is clearly after some brownie points here after months of failures within the EU.

That’s about Macrons limit threatening a British dependency.

The last bloke to do that was a bloke called General Galtieri showing his Billy big bollocks attitude and look what happened to him. 🇬🇧

And yet some on here, tongue in cheek or err not, are advocating military action. Hmm.
I think Macron's a dick btw.

French Presidential Elections are just a year away and campaigning starts now, Macron is just making noises like Johnson did when he threatened to break International Law, The Good Friday Agreement and a promise over his dead body not to put a border in the Irish Sea.

Macron’s message is for home consumption and just another meaningless piece of sabre rattling which the British Press are quick to seize on for our home consumption and to improve profits at Stomach Ulcer Medicine Companies.

Because, like the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands are Crown Dependencies, which means the UK is responsible for their defence and security and for determining their interactions with other countries as part of overall UK foreign policy. It’s formalised in a treaty.

Way back in time the European nations got together and formed a partnership so that we would never see the horrors of the first half of the 20th century again. A long way off war but maybe we could be part of some sort of alliance with our geographical neighbours that promotes trade and understanding, what do you think?

Unfortunately they seem to be more interested in creating a federal superstate against the wishes of most of the bloc's population, so that trading alliance is long gone.

Amusingly it turns out that the islands have plenty of generating capacity of their own so the threat is largely empty.

Also it's totally the wrong time of year to be making threats like this.
95% of Jersey’s Electricity comes by undersea cable from France

They have 2 plants, a mix of diesel engines and oil fired gas turbines, not the cheapest, most efficient or environmentally friendly way to generate electricity (hence why they use the interconnectors) but sufficient to cover their needs, especially across the summer months where demand is lowest.

Tried that, it doesn't work. The problem was some doughnuts tried to turn it into a European Super State.

There is no hope. He like many others fall for the lies the BBC and the left wing media in general dish out.
