France v England match thread

My Son just said how are these professional footballers. I said Son you are not allowed to say that.

To be fair, the French players do look good.
 
They are a shadow of the team that won it.

I’ve watched a few of the Lionesses matches and the standard of football is really poor

Why when it's the mens' game do we have three male pundits and one female, yet when it's the womens' game we have four women pundits and no male?
 
Am I being thick or what....but the graphic for the offside shows the French player's thigh/hip behind the English player 🤔

Haven't laid a glove on them so far. The French have a really good defensive set up and they're quicker all over the pitch.

They should stick to the basics and drop the Walkers Crisps adverts with real footballing superstars!
 
I’m not up to speed with England’s ladies, but they seem to have a few players who are not quick enough to the ball and slow in their decision making. There was a couple of times we were on the attack and the ball went over to the left wing and we were too slow to get to the ball.
 
Missed the second half due to a massive fire in FY2. 3 houses ablaze, scary stuff.
Make sure you blow those candles out tonight guys, and well done our emergency services who did a stellar job. No loss of life or injured it appears 👍

France were very good and physical.
We were poor and week

Very poor first half, a better second half, but France looked much the better team overall.
Hard to see England achieving much on this showing, but they did well to get back into it and could have stolen a point.
They seem to lack anyone who carried any real threat to me, but maybe France will just turn out to be a very good side?
 
Having had time to think about, I think that unfortunately most of the blame for this largely abject performance lies with the coach. Such is the obsession with playing Lauren James (despite her playing just a handful of minutes since April) and the coach taking an hour to recognise that maybe the team were being run ragged, defeat was inevitable. Maybe I’m a bit old fashioned, but I like my defenders (especially the full backs) to be able to defend, not just to roam around the pitch with no apparent direction.

Hannah Hampson is a good goalkeeper and should be a good replacement for the Queen of Stops, but Mary would have given some of those defenders a right old bol***king last night. Let’s hope that the coach looks beyond some of her favourites on Wednesday. If she doesn’t we might well be on the same flight back as Wales next weekend.
