Just remembered we were down in Brum & pool were playing Walsall on the last day of the season & I just happened to have got tickets for me & 5 year old son. Drove to the ground from Sutton Coldfield about 10 miles & got stuck in traffic, arrived with about 5 minutes to spare to be told by the police we couldn't go in as there had been a charge on the gate & they were not letting anybody else in. I told the copper do we look like we're here to cause trouble & I've got tickets, but before he could think of an excuse not to let us in a guy on the gate heard & said come in here. We ended up in the away family stand. I suppose this counts, there wasn't much to cheer about & my lad was cold so I gave him my coat to wrap round him. From memory even after the loss there was still a chance of promotion but some other team scored as we were leaving the Bescot lots of people had transistor radios pressed up to their ears & there was a collective groan amongst the leaving Pool contingent. At least I didn't have far to travel back to my ex's nans where we were staying over. I suppose that may count as in the opposition end. Colin Methven played a stormer for them & was almost apologetic to some pool fans, but he was just being professional & I think he may have travelled back with some of of our lot.
