Gary Bowyer, an interesting watch…

Touches on his time at Blackpool, but just before around 58m he talks about all the coaching badges not preparing you for player management. When you think what he achieved, without us there to support him and the players, his achievement was so much greater.

Listening to him just reinforces how uninspiring Critchley is and that he lacks depth in the game.

Bowyer was my choice last year before Critchley was appointed. He’s a proper football man, someone I truly think we’d get behind and someone I think Simon would work with.

Agree with that, he did well in difficult circumstances and he’s a really nice guy, I met him.

His managerial record is very iffy and if anyone thinks his style of play is better than NC’s then I suggest you reconsider

He got Dundee promoted in a league that is literally mostly part time. I'm a big fan of Scottish football. I don't look down on it like many on here do... but getting Dundee out of the Championship is basically par for the course. He wasn't popular with Dundee fans either who didn't warm to his playing style.

I like the guy, but I'm really not convinced he's the guru of the modern game AVFTT seem to think he is. He's a decent pundit and he's done ok at a few clubs, but he's had his share of short spells and failures too.

And his recent record in management?

1 hour 14 minutes should be a massive wake up call.....
He's discussing his time at Bradford and getting sacked for dropping out of the play off's but only losing 3 games in 14
Gary mentions how Bradford had been in the Prem, and the fans had massive expectations of where they should be and winning everything!!!

Does sound very familiar

Kept Blackburn up and then another 2 seasons in difficult times. Took Dundee up to the SPL. Took Blackpool up with virtually nothing to work with.
Points well made.

If I may be so bold, might I put forward the suggestion of making one important alteration to the text?

When you focus on the impressive managerial achievements Bowyer secured during his time in the game, you conclude your post by mentioning how he took 'Blackpool up with virtually nothing to work with.'

Can I suggest, knowing the previous incumbents as we do/did, you replace the couplet 'virtually nothing', with 'absolutely nothing'?

Nice bloke clearly has a fondness for our club but there were moans about the playing style when he was with us .
