Genuine question - Pre-season friendlies

Appreciate all that’s been said about the non-importance of pre-season friendly results -‘Minutes in legs’ et al.

Just can’t help noticing that in recent years we’ve attracted the likes of Rangers & Everton for these games, whilst now we’re up against Crewe, Tranmere, Accy, with the only ‘big names’ being WBA & Sunderland.

Are we now not attracting bigger teams for friendlies? Club decision to scale things down, given likely continued L1status, or am I reading too much into it?

Good/realistic thing to manage expectations?

To have a strong team turnup I expect one division either way works for most clubs. Hence in the champ we can have the odd game against Liverpool or Everton. In L1, any game against Liverpool would likely be a "Liverpool XI", so better to play a strong Sunderland side IMO.

Think it's been a bit all over the shop this year because of the Euros - and think the same will eventually be true of the loan market.

Fans seen to forget the away teams want paying that's why your United's and Arsenal's sod off abroad even Rangers and Celtic have been in the USA.

We got Hibs last year I'd say Sunderland are a way bigger club than them.
