Get in!!! At last

Ballard looks very good and reliable at the back. Hopefully the rest of the team will have confidence with him behind them that they can take a few more chances in future and make something happen. Sarkic looked better than he has previously, however the opposition were poor.

We looked better at CB and agree on Sarkic but would say all 3 subs looked an improvement.
Midfield still doesn't convince though does it?

To be honest I was waiting for Robson on, Ward off for most of the second half... Agreed that the subs were all decent though, and I'm not usually impressed with Madine

I

Thought CJ redeemed himself with the cross for the goal and a couple more after that. Kemp should have scored.
Yeah...he’s not the player that we can rely on to get us back when trailing though which is the measure of a good player.

Precious 3 points but 39% possession against a very average side and 2 shots on target shows the problems are still there. I just hope that gives the players some confidence. Ballard has made a massive difference at the back.

Williams body language was awful. Whenever we had a throw in he just ambled away with his back to the ball, at least look interested. Kemp at least added a bit of urgency when he came on.
Kemp is not the full answer for our woes but he looks keen as mustard and up for it.
I really like him.

Second half was better, although it would have been difficult not to show some improvement after how poor we were in the first.

Importantly, it's 3 points, gives them a little bit of breathing room and hopefully some confidence.

Are you sure you don’t mean Hamilton. I would have said exactly that about him

Pleased for KaiKai.
The loan players look decent.
Not great but a better 2nd half showing. The result was paramount.
Hopefully it can help build some much needed confidence

They always show a similar stat to that no matter who they're playing; if I remember rightly they even did it against Arsenal in preseason.

Ballard looks like everything we have been crying out for, let's hope this spreads throughout the team.

Maxwell- Did ok but needs to be much more commanding

Ballard- Quality and deservedly MOTM

Ekpiteta- Growing into his role and he desperately needed a Ballard figure alongside him

Turton- Solid performance. His position is safe for now.

Mitchell- Scares the life out of me when isolated with the opposition winger. Need Garbutt back fit.

Ward- Did ok. Similar as every other game. He doesn't have much influence on the game.

Williams- A little clumsy on the ball at times but put himself about. Some people seem to really dislike him but he does a job and adds a (little) bite in the middle.

Woodburn- Seems to be one of the few players with that little bit of something special. He did well today and got some much needed minutes under his belt. I think keeping him fit will be key.

Kaikai- Great finish. In and out the game vut another I feel needs to play as he can make something out of nothing.

CJ- Frustrating at times but clearly our main man. Of the very few good moments we have during games, he is at the centre of them.

Yates- Worked hard. Put himself about. Just not happening for him. Badly, badly needs a goal.

Kemp- Was really impressed with him when hr came on. Looked a threat and shoukd have scored. Clever little player

3pts
Clean sheet
Kaikai back from injury with a goal
Ballard looks a great player
Bad run ended

That's the positives, we know we can play better and still need to do much more in the final 3rd but it feels good to have a win to celebrate.

Salary cap dependent but we need to scour the market for an out of contract forward as a matter or urgency, I’m sorry but Yates isn’t up to it at all, how on earth did we agree to pay money for him ?

Proves how we needed someone in the Def midfield role in this league and Dougall if he has anything has to be an upgrade on a very average Williams?
I still prefer Madine to Yates just due to his ability to hold up the ball and play in the 2 pact wide men.
I think Woodburn will be very good if allowed to grow into that AM role

Woodburn looked like he wanted to make things happen even if they didn’t quite come off. Kemp off the bench is a no brainer. Subs are so important and Critchley needs to realise this. He was about to take Kaikai off before he scored for sure.

61% of possession by Richard Keogh and the keeper. Can't remember a single save needed to be made by Maxwell. Agree about Ballard, although Ekpiteta is looking far more assured than in the early games.

Terrible performance and questionable tactics at times but thats 3 points and won scrappy.
Didn't watch yesterday for the first time this season and so knew we'd win but having read the write ups I'm glad it wasn't a game I endured and instead enjoyed the 3 points 👏👍 Onwards and Upwards as a board dignitary once said!

If a performance like that pleases you then you're easily pleased. We will lose more games than we win playing like that. Simple things please simple minds, eh Chunky.

He made a save at end of first half. A shot which was deflected but it was an easy save.

That’s your one post for the weekend Mike.
Yes I am able to enjoy simple pleasures and 3 points however garnered suits me just fine.
