Gnando

If we are going to go down the route of nice attractive football on the deck then unfortunately he won't get in the first 11 IMO, his strengths are in the air.

I think he will cash in (and move) on what is probably going to end up as the best season of his career.

Id argue that even when playing attractive football, you still need players like Gnando in your side. He has scored nearly 20 goals this season, with us playing pretty poor football on the whole. He is clearly a goal scorer and they are hard to come by in football now a days. Id still be more then happy to see us get the ball out wide (in a less direct route) and get the ball in the box. This is still the top way teams score goals whatever style of football they play.

Gnando can play in a fast flowing attacking team, our problem is we play one way which is to lump it up to Gnando and hope for the best. If Gnando is on fire we play well but if he isn't or gets marked out of the game we are hopeless. There is an argement that he needs to go to force us to find another way to play. Do o think he will stay....no

Grayson set us up to play like that, you can’t say gnando doesn’t play on the floor when he scores goals like tue night

I think he will go at the end of the season. As for how he fares with a new manager, I think the above comments nail it. If its a fast flowing on the floor passing game I think he will struggle, if its another lump it up to him then he will probably continue doing alright. Needs of the team over the one and all that make me think he will be replaced to force us into another style of play and that's fine with me and id welcome it.
I would add that it was a stonking goal on Tuesday and fair play to him for it

The goal on Tuesday night was quality...no doubt but does he do that often enough in my view no. His hold up play is average at best, his close control is shocking and he cannot spin on the turn....the titanic turns quicker. He struggles to see a pass and ultimately he is your typical big lump of a striker. No way in my view a championship player good maybe above average lg1 striker at best.

How can he be an average league 1 striker when he's above almost every league 1 striker in goals? That makes absolutely no sense at all.

Agreed with you on this. He is having a great season which can't be sniffed at but i don't see him scoring a similar amount of goals again. If he was as good as some people make out then a championship club would have offered more than we could turn down in January; didn't happen.

He is an average player enjoying a great season, it happens! look at someone like a Michu in the Premier League years ago at Swansea - scored for fun and then dissapears and not had a season similar since - surely you don't think he's a technically great player? each to their own mind and football is all about opinions.

I think loads of players aren't technically brilliant. But his role is to score goals. And he does. He scored 10 goals last season too. FYI. Maybe he's just getting better perhaps?

He has same agent as Tilt. If he did resign for us I’d be happy as he scores goals & alongside a DJ type player we could become less one dimensional I don’t think we could shoehorn Madine in it would be one or the other.

He's definitely won me round that's for sure, but i think some of our fans go a little ott when it comes to Gnanduillet because he aint nowhere near as good as some make out

He does a job in a team that lumps it long, his weaknesses are when the ball is at his feet (what he should be good at being a footballer). If we are to attempt to keep the ball on the deck then he is going to be found out for what he is - and that's a big target man to try and win the first ball when it's lumped long.

Keep the ball on the deck and you'd imagine most of our goals would come from our strikers being on the shoulder of the last man (something i think Hardie would do well) i can't think of many occasions Gnando finds himself in this position and that's just because it isn't in his game (no fault of his own) and that's why i feel he wouldn't fit in well with a ball playing team.

Because all our play is built around him so you would expect t him to score. My point is that yes he is a good lg1 striker if you play a certain way but ultimately he is a journey may player having probably his best season he will ever have. Is he championship quality no because his all round game is nowhere near good enough and better defended will find him out.

I think we had parts of this discussion the other day on a similar thread.

Basically I think Gnands is having a season that will be one of the best in his career, and at League 1 level he is definitely an asset. In our current side on current form he is essential!

Could he do similar next season if he stays with us and we are (as seems almost certain) in League One again? Yes, I absolutely think so. Would I expect him to do as well in the Championship? Probably not as I think he has some flaws that will make him much less effective at a higher standard.

If we are pretty much agreed that we will be in this division next season then I would push hard to sign him up for next season at least - though I doubt he or his agent would accept less than a 2 year deal. A new manager might be able to approach the contract issue with him again, and the general improvements to the squad might have influence on him too.
