Gnanduillet yesterday?

Only just found the new forum and so I’ll post something similar to what I did yesterday but did anyone else think Gnando looked a bit like a duck out of water with better players around him.

Not that I’m excusing Larry for picking Nuttall (who did as many bad things as good things yesterday) on Tuesday with Madine but I can see why they complement each other more than Gnando/Madine.

For me, Madine is the better player but I can’t see it working with Gnando anytime soon .. the question is who will work with him?!

When the alternative is Nuttall I don't see he has option but to try Gnando and Madine.

If I were manager I'd give Nuttall a lengthy spell playing for the ressies in front of Insider and Tango Pat, boost his confidence then maybe give him a few runs out at the end of the season.

I think Gnanduillet is off in the Summer and I'm not sure he's as good as his goalscoring suggests this season. He seems to thrive on the lone striker role with crosses coming in, I think SG wants to play with 2 up top. Nuttall confidence is shot to bits but I think he will benefit from playing alongside Madine. Hardie is also a possibility, if he was here. Would Kaikai or Fonz work up front with Madine?

I would have been tempted to offload him this January. Go with Madine and Nuttall up top, if that didn’t work try Fonz up top with Madine.

even my missus yesterday said he just looks laboured in everything he does

Having seen Madine play in both games, i can see that loaning out Hardie was a serious mistake.
On the few occasions he had a runout you could see him making intelligent runs only to be completely ignored.
I think he could be the perfect strike partner for Madine as he has pace as well.

Like others I don't think Madine & Gnanduillet are a match made in heaven. Obviously they are similar and I'd stick my neck out and say there's not much to choose between them abilitywise.
Hardie was clearly the nearest thing we had to a "No. 10" and I can only assume that Larry didn't like what he saw from him in training or whilst scoring for the reserves.
The options until the end of the season are therefore limited. Kaikai could replace one of them or we can see if one of the new mid-fielders can fit in. I'm not a great believer though of square pegs in round holes.

With having hardly seen him play I’ve somehow always fancied Hardie over Nuttall, based on nothing more than Rangers fans’ comments to him leaving. The loan move will do the lad the world of good and I see him as being a better prospect than Nuttall as the foil to Madine. Gnanduillet has done well as the lone striker but as mentioned that tactic to too reliant on one source in Feeney. With better and more forward thinking midfielders I can’t see the need for Gnanduillet and his style of playing but can see a successful partnership growing between Madine and Hardie if the latter continues to improve during the loan. Trouble is, we need that now...

Hallelujah! Totally agree. I think he's a lazy, greedy and actually poor footballer but he intimidates the opposition and has the strength to score from decent positions but the idea that he has been our saviour is nonsense. I often think we'd have been a better side if he'd not come back.

More misunderstanding of his football genius.

Said the same thing yesterday, Hardies goals for Plymouth have come from layoffs, and with Madine now up front it could work for us. Nuttall needs a run of games in the ressies to get his head right.

I just desperately hope at some point that Nuttall puts in the performance that we all hope for. I keep hearing there's a player in there but I wish he'd show himself!

Couldn't agree more, he's only scored as many as he has (should have a fair few more) because our tactics are geared up to suit him. Madine will show us all how a centre forward should hold up the ball and bring others into play.

Couldn't agree more, he's a very very poor player. Madine will show us how a proper centre forward should hold up the ball and bring others into play.

I also agree gnanduillet is a very poor footballer can’t even pass it when it’s at his feet opposition win it from him on almost every occasion
Wouldn’t bother me if he left tomorrow

Gnanduillet has done way better than what I expected this season to be fair but in my opinion he won’t be anywhere near as successful in a team with better all round footballers in it.

I have

I have been saying this since day one and all I got was derision and abuse. I am glad more people are beginning to agree and see him for what he is, a very limited footballer. Early season we took a few teams by surprise, hence the early wins. If Grayson had realised months ago what everyone else could see, we wouldn’t be in the mess we’re in now.
