Good old Dianne Abbott

Chucked out of the Labour party again for being unbelievably stupid.

On the today programme she apparently said that racism against non-black people i.e. travellers or Jewish people is not as bad for them as people can't tell what race they are.
She’s said something similar before. She is a continual liability these days 😔

No she didn't. She was saying that racism is different for different groups: some being skin colour, others being religion. Her point was that Jews and others experiencing race hate experience it in different ways. For black people it is immediately apparent, for others it is less so. I am finding Starmer increasingly unpalatable

She can only comment with total accuracy on her own experience of race hate, and isn’t qualified to comment on somebody else’s experience.
It was a stupid and insensitive thing to say.

Anyone can comment on racism. Whether they experience it or not. The issue is does she have a point? I'm inclined to think she does. The other point is should she be suspended from the Labour Party because of it? I don't believe she should. Starmer is going to run out of Labour enemies at this rate.

You can comment but you can only comment on an experience with any validity if it is an experience you’ve had.
I know a Jewish person who is much more visibly identifiable by sight than a person of colour I know. So best not to speak in such certainties as she does.

Her exact words here are:
I just think that it’s silly to try and claim that racism which is about skin colour is the same as other types of racism."

So definitely a stupid and insensitive thing to say in my opinion.

Agree, she shouldn’t be kicked out for saying that.

I find her standing by a comment, for which she has previously retracted and apologised for making, somewhat contradictory. Surely her apology wasn't just a ruse before an election and lacking in sincerity?

Let’s hope she stays out of the party for good this time as she does more damage to Labour than the Reform party do to it.

That shouldn't be hard the Lib Dems and Greens are doing far more damage to Labour than Reform and for the record Abbott spoke the truth using nuance which doesn't go down well these days.

She’s a racist end of.

Yes even blacks can be called out as well.

Really?

And here’s me thinking she’s been sacked for not withdrawing racist comments she previously made.
She hasn't been sacked yet and can't be. Her comments are not racist except to racists. Starmer can expel her if he wants to look stupid and lose support but you know what? I find it curious that lifelong anti racists get called racist by racists when it suits an agenda.

She’s been suspended from the Labour Party what more evidence do you want?

I don’t like the bloke but Starmer is far from being a racist and he’s 100% correct in suspending her.

It’s time this woman stepped down from her long political career she’s become a Dinosaur and offers the Labour Party nothing.

She was suspended before but reinstated and that's some agism you've got going there. He can expel her but so what? She'll just join Corbyn's Raisin party or whatever it's called. She is also a very popular and successful MP, as is Corbyn. Don't believe the hype.

She deserves Corbyn 2 peas in the same pod.

Both caused serious damage to the Labour Party over the years.

Putting it into the correct context she makes a valid point. Sadly she didn’t explain her point properly. Sometimes she doesn’t engage her brain fully a habit many politicians are guilty of.

Bit of a liability is DA but she is certainly entertaining.

I think she's clutching at straws. This was all about something she said a couple of years ago and she chose to resurrect the matter again. When asked she should have just not answered the question in the manner she did.
