Harry and Meghan

So they have confirmed that no longer want to be "working Royals"

Not sure whether you can be a non-working Royal?

I think they should rescind their Royal titles and crack on with their family life like any other celebrity couple, without the 'Royal' expectations being placed on them.

You can never rescind being born a Prince can you? Giving up the royal titles won't make a scrap of difference.
Secondly people moan about the royal family being subsidised by the taxpayer (me included) they've relieved us of that burden, good on them. Far better that than propping up the like of Prince Andrew, Philip and his kids.

I must say that confused me too. Of course, they'll NEVER cash in on his famous family connections, will they?
Wouldn’t you?
When they first went solo, people said they should have to earn their own money (and rightly so), but it seems some won’t be happy unless Harry becomes a brickie and Meghan gets a job at the local Walmart.

I have huge sympathy for Harry. The tragedy of his Mum, his service for the UK, his championing of Disabled servicemen, he has served, and I think he should have the choice, exactly the same as you and I, whether he should continue, or lead a different life.

However, if he and the Duchess use their former titles and position to make themselves even wealthier, then I have an issue. If they are serious, they would renounce all their Royal titles, to go along with HM The Queen having removed all their honourary Military Titles and Patronage. It would be difficult to argue that they lose all non Royal title, however, when you see the amount of Lords and Ladies who contribute sod all to the general good.

It's interesting how everyone is absolutely certain that he's got nothing to do with this and it's all her doing.

And for the record, I'm like the majority. Happy for them to do what they want as 'non-royals'. Not happy for them to use the royal connection to cash in, whilst providing no service or sacrifice. You can't have it both ways.

Of course, the elephant in the room in all this is the fact that Harry is the son of the future king...That 'fact' isn't going anywhere soon...

Now you’ve lost me. “Harry is the son of the future king” ?

Harry isnt the only bloke to lose his mother
He also isnt the only person to serve in her majesties services.
He doesn't help ex servicemen who are disabled on his own either.
What he IS is high profile, a great front man.

He and his wife are the biggest hypocrites going, oh we want our privacy then doing interviews in magazines. Then having pictures plastered everywhere with her pregnant and Wills gazing lovingly into her eyes.

Make your ** minds up you either want privacy or you want to be in the limelight. Megan Markles eyes must have lit up when Will asked her to marry him but didn't realise that being in that family isnt like being in some shite American tv drama, she'd love the dough but non of the graft, what she successfully did was to break up the relationship with his brother. She's poisonous gold digger.

I seem to remember his mum caused a bit of trouble for the Royal Family as well.

And his granny’s sister Margaret.

And his Uncle Andrew.

And I think his Auntie Anne might’ve caused a few headlines too.

Plus Uncle Edward.

Must be in the genes.

If only Oliver Cromwell had persisted with the concept of Parliament without a Monarch we needn't have invited the sauerkraut munchers over in 1714.

I do support their desire for privacy and a life of their own and would be more that happy never to see or hear from them again. In return I promise not to inflict myself in their lives in any way shape or form. Seems fair.

Is the Long Parliament like long Covid?
Completely unlike it. Convened by Charles 1st in November 1640 it could only be dissolved by agreement of its members. They didn't reach agreement until 1660. It covered the period of the English civil war and Cromwell's protectorate. American Whig historian, Charles Wentworth Upham, believed the Long Parliament comprised "a set of the greatest geniuses for government that the world ever saw embarked together in one common cause" and whose actions produced an effect, which, at the time, made their country the wonder and admiration of the world, and is still felt and exhibited far beyond the borders of that country, in the progress of reform, and the advancement of popular liberty. He believed its republican principles made it a precursor to the American Revolution. It also witnessed - I say, enabled - the publication of one of the greatest works of political philosophy: Thomas Hobbes' Leviathan, a convincing advocation for the nascent seventeenth century market economy.

This pair spout all they want is privacy yet spend thier lives craving attention just hope they disappear.

"Harry is the son of the future king"...

I had to laugh when they got married and the media focused on the fact that Meghan didn't have her father there....

Neither did Harry!

I must admit, I'm on the "It's all her doing" bandwagon..

Maybe it's a bloke thing, but I can't help but think bith Harry and 'Wills' are a bit 'Tim, nice but Dim' and pretty naive. Willie got lucky really with a bird, who doesn't give him much gip and does the Royal biz as required. However young Rachel seems to be a bit more high maintenance and is one of those gals who maybe likes to call the shots or more precisely 'Wear the Trousers'....

I hate to say it, but I think this is going one way and that's a few years poncing around followed by a messy Divorce.... This kind of thing happens in families a lot and when either partner struggles to get on with their inlaws (especially to this extent) then the writing is on the wall. He'll grow up and his puppy dog eyes will grow weary of his plaything....That's the way it goes in their world.

... I wouldn't. If i had that kinda wedge behind me i wouldn't need to.

He'll end up quite independently wealthy if he does.

He's done well for himself.

Sick of bloody hearing about them! He’s made his bed..... let them get on with it. It’ll all end in tears and he’ll be back asking for his ‘job’ back when the money runs out!
I don't think his money will ever 'run out'....

Unless he decides to buy the Nobbers that is!

Just saying like.... if you're gonna come on here flailing punches around you need to get the basics right 😆
Well I don't mean to be pedantic, but a four dot ellipsis isn't really correct, there's no need for the punctuation and although the four dot is sometimes used at the end of a sentence, yours isn't anyway.

That may be true, but there is, at least, some method in me using the extra emphasis.... In your case, it's just bad grammoh.

Anyway, have you got any particular thoughts on the subject matter or are you just dipping your toe in with a 20's style fart and fuck off?

That's no excuse really, you use ellipsis..........in virtually.....every post....you.......make, so as you were so kind to point my one missing apostrophe out I thought I'd return the favour with a grammatical suggestion you clearly had no idea about as surely you'd have checked you were up to standard before donning the grammar police cape?

Anyway, Royals? Couldn't give a flying fuck, misogyny irks me however.

As I said, I use ellipsis (as is now commonplace) in order to emphasise the end of a sentence.... In my view (particularly on the internet and in email correspondence) it makes things much easier for people to read. 👍

Why don't you tackle the misogyny directly instead of dropping a poop bomb?
