Been really ill with asthma. Could not get any care whatsoever. Did online Doctor. Eventually they told me the wait was up to 3 days. I messaged again saying it was a bit more serious. Mrs phoned docs. They said I will be dealt with, Never did.
other options, nhs line. Said go a&e. Don't drive. Nobody would transport somebody coughing away. Out of hours hub. Same again with transport.
told ring 999 if I get even worse. At what point is that ?. Difficulty breathing, No sleep. I had that to say the least. How have I started to recover ? A family member posted some not used/needed I presume antibiotics through our letter box. Not a week's worth like you normally get. So feeling a bit better.
No wonder people ring 999 is the conclusion I have come to.
Don't know how you all go on with getting doctor appointment s. But this is totally rubbish. To you that don't know,I am in Wigan.

Sorry to hear your story but good to know that you’re feeling a bit better. Good news is that the weather is breaking on saturday 👍

Sounds pretty scary, getting to see your GP is a waste of time. The service is in serious decline.
Hope you feel better soon.

You need to phone 111 at least, if antibiotics are helping it's an infection, not asthma or a virus. 111 can get you seen.

Do you have chronic asthma and are you on any meds for it?

In defence of GP's, both my wife and I have seen them this year as a follow up to a phone consultation. Had to wait a week for my phone, but the wife was next day as she was more urgent. Also got sent to ultrasound at 1 days notice at local hospital.

As usual, depends on how hard your practice is working.

Being unable to breath induces panic and is really scary. We're really pleased to hear you're on the mend; however, if there's a repeat please don't delay in ringing 999. Hopefully the change in weather at the w/e will bring you relief. We live in Cheshire and our GP practice matches yours - frustratingly bad and we dread ever needing to contact them. Keep healthy PCW

Rang up for an appointment regarding a small growth on my hand, got told a doctor would phone me back, phoned back and text me an app for downloading a photo. Gave him some bull about my heart and he said he will see me next day. Refered me to dermatologist and sorted a next day ECG and a further 24 hr monitor. Always exaggerate a bit and you get a better quicker service.

My GP is still top notch, a one man band though who I know for a fact doesn't buy in to all the modern business approaches of a lot of surgeries.

As usual, commissioning doesn't work very well in reality, it all went a bit downhill in 91 when fundholding and purchasing from providers was introduced and later incentives were added for surgeries to join when they reached a certain size, which is why you don't get many one man band types any more, struggle to see the same doctor sometimes and lose a lot of the personal touch.

Most are primarily businesses now, not much different to Asda.

My son and granddaughter have had the usual we’ll ring you back, can you take a photo and send it to us .” We can arrange a video appointment “ Whereas my wife usually sees a Practice Nurse who start work early and can always be seen. What’s the difference? About £40000 a year?

Depends if the GPs are salaried or partners, partners receive a share of the profits. I've no idea what GP salaries are.

Practice Nurse is Band 6/7 so 30-35k ish.

Lost a lot of faith in GP's tbh.
Rang for an appointment so they could see my elbow, was told my doctor would ring back, didn't.
Called out of the blue by someone who said they were basically my subcontractor and arranged a MRI scan.
Have been diagnosed with a torn ligament in my elbow that needs further investigation!!
At no time has my GP been in contact with me and the jumped up receptionists who think they're all Dr Kildare boil my piss. Please dont tell me that YOU think ibuprofen is still ok to take when I'm in agony if I pick anything up with my right hand when I'm taking maximum dosage and its having no effect!!

Had the now usual telephone consultation a couple of months ago after several attempts to get through and was told to see how the problem was in a couple of weeks.

Another telephone consultation resulted in blood tests being arranged with the practice nurse. Hadn’t heard anything, so after three weeks called to be told results were all clear. Great, but the problem is still there, so arranged another telephone consultation which of course is always in a weeks time, and this time was prescribed painkillers for three weeks.

They worked, but after four weeks the problem returned. So now all I can get is another telephone consultation next Thursday afternoon.

Don’t they ever see patients in the flesh anymore?

Any news on the Golf club.

Ye, glad you’re feeling a bit better. Sounds awful, breathing issues are obviously quite scary 😟

Our GP is great. Can always get an appointment, not that I often need one, and they get appointments with specialists if required within a few weeks.

Think it depends on the practice. Ours is a single family, rather than an impersonal group practice. Makes a difference as you always see the same person who therefore has some understanding of you and your health.

it is normally under control. Take a purple and blue spray. And Loratadine for general allergies, Hayfever. etc. The night I was awake all the way through was horrible. Coughing non stop. Wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. Nice comments from my fellow fans.

I've got the NHS app (not the Test and Trace one that’s just for knobheads but the one that gives you your medical history. Since 2004 I’ve had four prescriptions. Can I claim a rebate on my N.I Contributions or bank them for later in life when I meet need nursing care? Didn’t think so

Seratide? Some people have better results with Symbicort but it varies. Mrs Lytham didn't get on with either mind.

Hope it's ok soon, they really should have seen you if the Salbutamol wasn't relieving it, there's other stuff available short term, the walk in centres or Urgent Care can prescribe, 111 can't unless it's an existing prescription off the top of my head.

There is a theory that asthma is over diagnosed and Salbutamol can exaggerate.

Mine was ok, but then it joined up with about 7 other practices to become a big group thing and it's absolutely shite.

No one answers the phone and the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing ...

The individual staff are all very nice but it's incredibly impersonal and simple stuff is a nightmare.

As someone said above, ring 111 - it's really irritating as they ask you loads of stupid questions but they will actually put you in contact with a proper doctor quickly.

I've had to do it with my lad when he's been poorly and it's quick and effective.

Mad how GPs have declined. Don't get me started on dentists.

td53. I am the other way with my dentist. They have been really good with me. Few years ago, I had the worst toothache possible. My face swelled so much. Needed antibiotics. Then had to wait to know if they could save the tooth. They ended up doing root canal.it was on the tooth that so many people do not shape their brush properly to clean, Think you can call it "fang" ?.Just 2 teeth away from your bunny. So clearly on the smile line. Oh. It hit my confidence for a while. I am convinced you can see through it from 1 direction. Guess what ?. I have cut out toffees, choc etc. Sonic brush, floss. Oh I clean properly now. My docs I would give 0/10. Dentist 10/10.

My teeth are knackered, I'm like The Somerton Man, it didn't do him any harm, except the whole dying on a beach thing.
