Heckinbottom in?

Why would you want him?

His record is shyte...

Surely if we are going to bring in a new manager we'd want to appoint someone better than Grayson.

We really need to start bringing people in based on merit rather than who knows who. That goes for managers and players.

Bit of a gamble!

Heckingbottom was appointed head coach of Scottish Premiership club Hibernian on 13 February 2019. The club went on an unbeaten league run, and Heckingbottom won the Premiership manager of the month award for March 2019] Two days later, Heckingbottom won his first Edinburgh derby match as Hibs manager against Hearts at Tynecastle, Hibs' first away derby win for six years. Hibs finished in fifth position, but Heckingbottom was unhappy that the team "downed tools" in the last few matches of the season.

Hibs only won one of their first 11 league matches in the 2019/20 season. Heckingbottom was sacked by Hibs on 4 November following a 5–2 defeat by Celtic in a League Cup semi-final, with the team sitting in 10th place in the league.

I'd take Sidebottom over Grayson. Rumours of a replacement manager is good to hear, hopefully the axe falls quickly and I can take my Missus to Bristol as a Valentines treat!! 🤣

Spoke to both of them at a player of the year event a few years ago,and Heck is a very reasonable guy who was badly treated by Leeds. He spoke openly about needing investment in the squad or leaving if not supported, and tried to shore up the aftermath of the previous manager with a degree of success.
His work at Barnsley was impressive and he uses a carefully constructed backroom staff so seems to know what he is doing, but he's a long term project in an industry that doesn't seem to do long term anymore.
I'd stick with Grayson personally but its your call.

Whilst I'm sure some (certainly not all) fans would be willing to give Heckingbottom a chance, wouldn't this appointment, barring an immediate string of entertaining performances AND wins, further dampen the spirits of an already disgruntled set of fans?
I think the board must seriously consider the broader implications of another poor, rushed appointment.

Heckingbottom might be brought in as a caretaker for the rest of the season, giving SS and the board time to contemplate a new permanent manager.

Heckinbottom will be a terrible appointment. Just another dinosaur that will play negative football. Everything played down the wings or poorly soaking up pressure and trying to hit teams on the break, like Grayson did.

Boring Boring, old fashioned football 👎🏻
