Help me out….The Brew Room

The original name was the Stanley Hotel, I’m not sure it was ever the Stanley Arms, that’s always been the pub on Chapel Street in my (hazy) memory.

Stanley rang a bell somewhere in my mind, Stanley Arms it definitely wasn’t though 😎

Must have been the Stanley hotel. I had thought it was The Stanley Arms but that was the name of the pub that has just reopened as The Stanley Show Bar.

Only reason I ask is that it’s the first pub I ever had a pint in in Blackpool when I moved here to work in 1988.

Just managed to get up an exterior photo up in the internet of The Brew Room……..There is still a big sign up in the building which reads..

The Stanley Arms Hotel.

Knew I wasn’t going mad

I might be wrong, but I think it was around that time that it was the Hog’s Head?

Late 80's early 90's I used to call it the stanley, stanley arms on chappell st, stanley wmc on stanley rd, stanley ward con club on common edge rd. At your service.

It was the Stanley Arms mid to late 70’s but was always known as the Blue Room . I used to frequent every Friday. It was the place to meet for under age drinkers 1976-1978 before moving onto the Criterion

Used to be the Blue Room but what was it called before that?

Formation and early years (1877–1900)

Football had developed in Blackpool by 1877, when Victoria F.C. were founded as a church club with a ground in Caunce Street. This team disbanded a few years later but some of its members are understood to have merged with old boys from St John's School to form a new club called Blackpool St John's. The two factions remained disunited, however, and on 26 July 1887, at a meeting in the Stanley Arms public house, the members resolved to wind up St John's and form a new club to represent the whole town. It was named Blackpool Football Club.

Iconic pub to the Mighty Pool 👍
