Hole in one

Played golf for 40 years, a good chunk in mid single figures. Never had an ace. Hit the flag, been less than a CM away many many times over yet never in the cup. Have holed mid irons for eagles and been an inch from an albatross twice but never a ruddy ace.

Have watched friends ace with thinned irons, chunked 3 woods but never me!
Few mates I’ve played with nobbed them along the ground run along and dropped in.

I’ve never had an eagle, but 2 hole in ones which is obviously but never sunk a putt for an eagle

Unfortunately I`ve just developed very painful arthritis in both my wrists and thumbs It may be rheumatoid arthritis. So far have not found anything that eases the pain sufficiently to allow me to play golf which is a huge disappointment.

I`ve had X-rays and blood tests and await a consultation regarding possible injections in a month and an appointment with a rheumatologist in just over two months. Any other suggestions to deal with it would be very welcome?

Congrats!

Nope for me, holed a 220 yard second shot on a par 4 for eagle, but no one heralds that in the same way. Very unfair ! 🤣

Well done mate. I haven’t had ‘a hole in one‘ since Magaluf c.1993, such a good feeling! My approach play ever since has been varied, I would say pretty consistent, a few birdies, some of it well over par and in the rough, but have had to work for it!

Congratulations !

Had one on the 5th at Chislehurst, Kent. Thinned a 9 iron never more than 10 ft off the ground, went between two bunkers and out of sight. Like above, looked everywhere but the hole and then, bingo bango !. Only 5 people in the bar as well.

I have had 2 holes in 1 (13th @ Tidworth GC & 11th @ Knott End GC). I have also had 3 albatross 2's but they are not classed in the same bracket as a hole in one even though they better for the score card!
