Hoofing it !

When Jake was on, Pool tried ( not that successfully) tokay everything through to feet. When Jake went off and the diminutive Owen Dale came on to partner the even more diminutive Shane Lavery, Pool started hoofing long high balls down the middle ??? It was bizarre.

I've said on another thread the 'lump it up to Madine' tactic has now become the 'lump it up to Lavery' who is nearly a foot shorter, tactic. All it did was give them the ball back and invite pressure. We either need a big target man pronto or we need to stick to keeping the ball on the ground.

Glad I’m not the only one who noticed that!

I get the feeling we'll see less and less 'lumping it' - definite hangover from last season and not Critch's preferred style of play.

We did no lumping v Burton or Derby. Thus I believe the lumping was not a deliberate tactic, it was a reaction to the much greater pressure that Exeter put us under. We kept the ball for 4 or 5 minutes v Derby. Partly cos they allowed us to. Its not hard to understand that an opposition team can force you into doing things you dont want you do, simply in order to survive their attacks. Exeter knocked us out of our comfort zone. So there's work to do. At Derby we had Dougall and Virtue in midfield with Carey. Weir will come in soon. We need to find a blend that can maintain composure and possession, which will require more work on the training ground. In games like Exeter away maybe we need 2 DMs.

Trawling through my wardrobe the other day, what should I find lurking around the base of said furnishing - but a couple of pairs of platform shoes from my dancefloor-strutting days of that fashion-barren period of the mid-'70s.

Hopefully, never to make a come-back (that's the shoes - not me!), I am more than happy to help with the vertically-challenged predicament of our make-shift strike-force by forwarding both pairs of the rather cumbersome, tasteless items of footwear, which will then negate the need for us to switch to a more expansive style of play ... Cos let's be honest here, such a 'revolutionary' tactical change would only cause deep unrest among the rather conservative souls who currently frequent the terraces at Bloomfield Road ... And we wouldn't that, now would we!?

Yes because the team is at its peak already after 3 games and playing fully to the NC's instructions, get a grip mate ffs. The coach gives instructions the team adheres to them fully, yep right! No room for individuals hoofing it and not following said instruction, it's the coaches fault and he should be drawn and quartered.

You could be on to something and we already have the perfect song for it... ♫♪♫ Lavery's much higher, your defense is terrified! ♫♪♫
