Just wondering what proportion of the readers are on furlough still, given the push to get back to economic normality.

Not missed a beat, wouldn’t of minded a couple of weeks off on 80%. That said I hope I don’t have to due to catching the virus.

Daughter has been furloughed for 6 weeks now and didn't look like she would be back anytime soon as program she was working on had been cancelled (and is practically impossible to make in current environment). Luckily she has been put onto another program and likely to be back towards the end of August.

Son is self-employed and had about 3 weeks without any work but since then has got back to about 60 %. With restaurant trade starting back he'll hopefully get back to around 80 % by end of august.

Luckily I don't need to work but after doing quite a bit of consulting up to mid-March little chance of anything in the foreseeable future (apart from ME and Asia which ain't of interest).

60% after tax, still very generous of the gvmt btw.
Yes the first couple of weeks were great I’ll admit that.
After that it started to grate.

Had 3 months on furlough, thankfully on 100%. Been back for four 4 weeks but one position out of the four staff to be made redundant. Fingers crossed !

Worked throughout. Feel very sad for Bottle and others in a similar situation 😢
Ahh that’s nice of you Lala - shed no tears for me though, they might be doing me a massive favour, but at my age and my situation I’d rather jump than any of the younger ones with young families and mortgages be subject to redundancy.

I’ve taken voluntary and had compulsory redundancies in my past but I’ve always come out in a better position afterwards, this time I think that will be it for me and I’ll call it a day on work and settle for early retirement - given that I’ve just had 4 months of “no work experience”!

I hope everything works out as well it as it possibly can for you.

All the best.

Thank you Seaside2020 nice of you, I’ll be mostly fine whatever happens but I really worry for a lot of people who are going to hit hard times in the next few years, I just hope the Furlough Scheme does what its supposed to do and give most people a chance to return to a job, things are going to be hard enough without mass unemployment and I’m old enough to remember being a One In Ten as UB40 put it!

Worked throughout, on skeleton staff and not full hours at first but was fortunate enough to still be paid fully.

I feel for anybody who has struggled through this and possibly faces redundancy

Similar to Bobby, not worked since March. Still isolating till August 1st then I’m going to drive to Spain with the wife and chill for a while.

Daughter just told that they want her back a week on monday and she is very happy to get back and get off furlough. She works in TV production and it looks like they are starting to get back to alittle like normal(ish).
