How Not to Run a Football Club - Official Discussion Thread

Finally (finally finally) it seems like some people are getting their copies, so I thought I'd make a thread here for your comments, questions etc, general chat. Looks like WH Smith had their copies ready to pick up yesterday and Blackpool Waterstones have most of the orders placed with them ready to pick up today (general stock for sale in shop not quite ready yet though) and have deliveries out in the post. Amazon has told people April which was in error and are now updating estimated delivery to next week.

Looking forward to all your thoughts. If you spot a typo, don't tell me for a few weeks, the amount of times I proofread it I don't think I could take it just yet!

Book signing/q+a has been postponed from this week as stock hasn't arrived at the Armfield Club and many won't have gotten their orders yet, but will sort out a new date soon.

Happy reading all. Thank you so much for buying, I hope it lives up to expectations. My twitter is @nathanjfogg, send me all your photos please!
Great Job Foggy 😀🍊

I have read it all now, it's a really good read.
The most surprising thing for me was that it seems that BFC were likely to have been 25% owned by Maxim Bakiyev during the Belekon years. Not a good look TBH. We were the Blackpool laundromat. We are so lucky to have Saddler.

Great work Foggy.

I remember living on this forum (or the old style) day in, day out, refreshing and following every single detail of what was going on. I'll ALWAYS remember Tim Fielding saying it can't get as bad as it is right now, and yet somehow Karl proceeded to continue to worsen everything.

It's like that Michael Jackson documentary, where you couldn't believe how strange and weird he was, and then you watch it and it all makes sense.

Karl was ( and probably still is) a 15 year old virgin stroppy teenager who wanted to get his own way continuously. He had to have been bullied at school or something because that behaviour is proper weird. The whole sitting in the back of the Trust meeting giggling away with who we know doesn't sit right with me and never will. Some of the individuals at the club were never fit and proper.

When Matt Williams went that was the remainder of any ounce of professionalism that the football club had.

Thanks for writing that Foggy, I have a chapter left but it got to 2 am so I'll finish it tonight. Brilliant but also extremely frustrating going back to how angry I was at times during the boycott times. I fell out with friends and family over going to watch Blackpool FC. Horrible time in reality which shows why it's so special to us now.

Curryman, never mind “the two of you”. Look back and see who made an unprovoked insult. You want me to not respond?…. You behave yourself and have a proper look before you start having a go.
The goon then started DM’ing me btw giving it large from his Gran’s box room

You’re right that this thread is about Foggy’s Book which I believe is excellent and will be buying but if someone suggests I “creamed my pants” at Man Utd relegating Blackpool then you think I’m wrong to respond?
Blood, there are probably very few who post on this board who haven't had an upper and downer with someone else, I know I've had a couple, but it's best to just laugh at their ignorance, if they are wrong, and agree laughingly, than to feed them with anything that will continue the argument, which can get totally out of hand. It can be very frustrating for someone reading the posts to keep coming up against a row between two posters which continues fo more than a couple of posts. If I've upset anyone with my comments on the matter I apologise, it was complete frustration on my part. I'm sure you will enjoy the book, albeit a precis of what went on. No one is perfect, myself included.

It’s arriving today mate, looking forward to it greatly 👍

no need for an apology pal, none whatsoever

Wondering why a couple of prominent contributors to this thread have only just ordered. Were they hoping all the best bits would be revealed on here?

Just finished the book, really enjoyed it and can relate to so many things.

Its the first book I have read in years - may have to read another 😃

Just read for two and a half hours on my flight back from Rome and the time flew by. Some excellent research from Foggy especially regarding some of the foreign crap players we signed during those awful years…… I could hardly remember any of them 😂😂
Anyway one chapter to go when I go to bed tonight……. I might even start taking to the wife and kids again tomorrow 🤔😀

I wasn’t going to buy the book because I never seem to have the time to read and thought I knew most of the stories anyway, plus some unbelievable stories that will never go to print.
Reading all these comments though, I think it deserves our support and I’ve added it to my Amazon Birthday Wish List. Seems like Foggy has done a cracking job. 👍

Just finished... amazing book, really enjoyed every single page. Some laugh out loud moments and some truly upsetting moments as well. Had a tear in my eye in the final pages in reference to Derek Spence. We are so lucky to have such a compassionate and savvy owner in Simon Sadler, especially after all those years of turmoil.

Well done Foggy, and thank you for being arsed to write this book!

Thanks Herts. A few people have said the court chapter was their favourite and praised the way it was written. It was a tricky one to pack in sooo much information, much saved for that chapter, and do so in an easy to follow way (when Owen's web of companies and his money was probably intentionally built to be confusing), and then capture some of the fun fan stories, and emotion. So I'm very glad I think I pulled it off.
Couldn't put it down either . Read it in 2 evenings (not got a TV at the moment🐶📺❌) Have sent you a DM foggy .

Just finished it. Two things.

1. Great read Foggy. You should be extremely proud of yourself for putting together such a great piece of literary work.
2. I refer to an earlier post of mine. Karl you're still a ** but Owen you're a bigger scumbag than anyone could ever imagine. I can accept your penchant for young girls and what money bought you in that respect. But you ripped off MY football club and screwed it for every penny you could take out of it without a single regret. May you forever rot in hell for the remainder of what days you have left in life..

Just hope the nasty bastard suffers before he dies first for what he’s put decent people through 😡😡👊👊

Wait til next week and the mods will let every Nobber get on here winding people up again…… definitely double standards 😡😡🙄
I can’t believe he’s been banned for a bit of criticism of a Book ffs!

btw I‘d guess Nathan as a writer would say exactly the same as me

and if anyone “reported” Welsh Phil to the Mods for “anti Book” comments then they should be ashamed of themselves

The mods are a disgrace allowing the shite that the petulant and sometimes very offensive Nobbers fans post on here! Welsh Phil is a BFC fan whether we agree and support his views is down to each individual on this site!
Spot on…..Jesus Christ we all have a fall out from time to time, disagree, take the piss etc etc But it’s just the nature of the beast……no need for Mods to be banning people unless it’s for threatening stuff or potentially libellous stuff, racism etc

Phil didn't say anything particularly offensive on this thread. He started following me around on Twitter and was being a bit nastier there, but certainly nothing on here and nothing I care about.

There's nothing I like more than a bit of banter with Pseudo Welsh Phil.
Nothing I've seen from him on this thread would seem to warrant a ban.

I do not care for Phils views generally - but we live in a country of free speech, which must be defended.

He is entitled to his opinion as we all are - if he has been banned for stuff on this thread, the moderation is a joke!!!!!!

I generally don't hate anyone but will raise a glass when he's gone for sure.

I enjoyed the book btw 👍

I can clearly see the points Phil’s made though and he’s got a case

I do think that the research and honesty around Belekon being a right dodgy bastard involved in all sorts is good honest journalism and am amazed that hasn’t really formed much of the comments on here as most just accepted him as the good guy …..and in terms of getting rid of the Oystons he was but clearly from the book he’s a very very very dodgy character at best

at the end of the day welsh phil wanted a big mention in the book and more credit for his efforts, whatever they were - they weren’t there so he is playing up on twitter etc, latching onto what the lads are saying.
