How Refreshing Was That

I thought this was the worst trip though?

Like bloody kids some of you lot...
I don't know what's up with you recently.

It's like you're re-writing history of some awful results, irrespective of whether we get in or not. Based on the standard of this league, we probably could have been after pushing top 2 with better decisions by this manager.

Derby are awful. Portsmouth are functional. Look at Barnsley. Bolton are struggling and not happy with Evatt. Oxford are bit whatever.

Peterborough are probably the best footballing side in this league but only towards the second half have they found consistency.

I find it incredible our fans are behaving like it's 2004 and we're just happy to be in the conversation. This league was there for the taking and we're going into the final day clawing onto hope with our finger nails.

I'm delighted we have a chance but in all reality, we should have been in the mix far earlier and cemented our place in the POs by now.

I said after about 15 minutes to our group this is the first game I have felt some excitement and had butterflies in my stomach at times.

Thinking about it this morning though it made me sad that so much of the season has gone before the constraints of that awful system were removed.

I was, unlike most of the fanbase who were giddy with an LDV, pissed off in 2004, we'd been ** about for over 20 years with no plan, no investment, no real hope, most people were content enough though with Joffrey's expectation reduction programme.

Today it's completely different, the club has plans, investment and an owner who is very vocal about where we should be, but now most people are demanding an immediate return.

It's one season for fucks sake, a rebuilding one at that, I refuse to condemn everyone associated after one season, it's ** pathetic and childlike.

Bigger picture, bloody panic monkeys.

No one is demanding an immediate return just that we make the best of what we have

Instead we’ve been incredibly predictable and conservative in the way we set up, suffered from poor team selections and an inflexible approach to ingame management which has seen us underperform

Loved it yesterday as we saw a team that really believed in itself play some incredible football

I think both FY8 & TAMs opinions are valid, I share the criticisms of weird team selection & substitutions and the apparantv”stubborness” to play a different system with respect to opponents & players available.
Also the excessive “defensive & conservative” tactics in too many of the 45 games so far, fans have had genuine reason to complain.

However, the over reaction, “throwing toys out of the pram” by some fans and some of the “Critchley/ Sadler Out” voiceificated when we got things wrong HAVE been pathetic & childish.

As FY8 stated one season in and we can still get promoted before we start the last game in a 46 game season is “an” achievement” in itself and if we don’t reach the play-offs not a reason to “turn the club upside down” and have another season of rebuilding IMHO.

Agree with this, although I think we will have another season of rebuilding due to loans going back and out of contract players. If by some miracle we get promoted, even more rebuilding will be needed, including the East stand

I've not demanded an immediate return, I've been ** pissed off we haven't tried to be better at every avenue.

When things have gone wrong, we've done the same things.

We've allowed three players to leave this season during the season who would have made this squad better, we've persisted with a formation that hasn't worked on the whole away from home.

We've persisted with players who have under performed consistently and shipped players out who have performed for no reason at all. See Casey.

It's all been very untidy this season and it's unnecessary. I don't demand Championship football AT all. I have had League One football most of my life but having been very successful in my career, when things have gone wrong I haven't stood still and watched them happen time and time again. I've made positive actions to rectify it and I've watched us make the same mistake all season and done very little to rectify it.

We've under performed this season by about 10-12 points and I can't see why under performing should be celebrated.

I’m enjoying a refreshing San Miguel, even more refreshing after yesterday. So sad he didn’t take the handcuffs off earlier.

Attack-minded from the start
No silly possession obsession in our defensive third
Fantastic press and three really great goals
Yes we ran out of steam a bit on 60mins and the Norburn / Virtue subs didn’t achieve the objective but give me that any day of the week v the negative possession based approach
Kudos to CJ and Bees who I thought were both exceptional today
MOM a tough one for once as there’s shouts for at least 6/7 players

Nogood is the answer. 3 games and 67 minutes he was out no goals conceded 3 wins on the spin and 3 up in the 4th game then he comes on (OK we had conceded 1 by then) and is in part responsible for the next goal and very much responsibile for our negative possession based sitting deep football. He offers NOTHING! He is lazy, he hides from the play, he offers only a half hearted effort when he should be getting stuck in a'la Keith Southern. He causes panic and chaos at the back and saunters around pointing at the ball as he watches it go by.

He is the most frustrating player I have ever seen. I even remember seeing Chris Malkin have a good game away at Wrexham. Nogood hasn't managed 1 since he arrived, whoopee he hit 1 shot that went in his only goal in 38. Sonny Carey has hit 6, Dembele 8 with (14 assists) even Kenny Dougall hit 3 in 24. CJ 4 and even 2 for Coulson. I get it he's a defensive midfielder but Marvin has 3, Pennington 2, and Casey and Hubby 1 each. Norburn I'm told by them trying to defend the indefensible suffered a bad injury. Well why sign him? Bishop was knocked back. He's been given getting close to 40 games and he's got worse! Absolutely shocking player.

Its not directed at you Kurt, there are quite a number who are demanding immediate an immediate return.

Has it been messy at times? Of course it has, we've looked lumpen and directionless away from home at points of the season but it's a work in progress, Critchley isn't going to change the system and he's obviously working towards a picture of what the team should be, some players have been overlooked and shut out, that's up to the manager's judgement and if he's wrong he'll pay with his job, but not after one rebuilding season of constantly top half and threatening the play offs.

If it looks the same at Christmas I'll agree it's time to look again.

Was a massive task.
We were awful last season.
Big players moved on.
New ceo new manager .
We should have done better in certain games but we’ve no right to be taking the league .
Your expectations are off the scale .

There’s been some seriously bizarre selections and awful approaches taken when playing lower half opposition - almost unfathomably bad

Change even 10% of those awful results and we’d not be going into Sat relying on others

So frustrating

So you are not a fan of his then?

Sorry what expectations? That we should have done better in quite a vast amount of away games.

I don't expect us to ever get turned over against Port Vale, Cheltenham, Burton, Wycombe in the manner we did.

And we didn't even try and change it! I expect when we play bad to not play the exact same way away from home.

We were consistently poor away from home for the majority of this season.

Your lack of ambition is absolutely insane. Maybe the Os were a better fit for you. Comfort zone innit.

I would agree it's a work in progress as a club but on the pitch I've seen little to suggest it. Take away the last 4 results and can you seriously tell me you felt we were getting better? Can you tell me we were progressing on the pitch?

Reminded me of the second half against Fleetwood but thankfully not the same result!

We should have done better away no doubt about that.
