How will Madine fit in to the Play Offs?

Not sure he is going to be sharp enough to bring much attacking wise but certainly agree with Peel if needed to see five minutes out whether that’s in our own penalty area or hypnotising some poor right back in the corner flag with his footwork!

We're short on proper striker options so he HAS to be part of the squad. He also offers something that none of the other strikers offer in terms of his hold up play and irrespective of the progress Simms has made, Yates best performances have come in partnership with the Machine. He obviously won't start as he's not going to be fully match fit, but 20 mins if we need a goal or need to get hold of the ball further up the pitch and he's your man. And as others have rightly said, he also adds height to a squad that lacks it.

I see him and Anderson as options off the bench, with Holmes giving way. We've been a bit threadbare so it's great to go into the next few games with striking options.

Think Keshi might have pushed a claim for a spot in the team
Don't think he looked match sharp, he should have buried a couple yesterday. Still Simms and Yates first two names on team sheet for those positions, with Madine and Anderson good options.
The other question is Mitchell - does he get a start in the play-offs or come off the bench? I would think the latter away at Oxford, where we'll be keeping it tight and may bring him o with his pace in the last 30 minutes.

There’s just something likeable about Madine in a lovable rogue sort of way. Did anyone else notice the ticking off he got from the ref as he was warming up for pinging back the corner flag as the ball was going out? I’m assuming he was trying to confuse the officials that it may have gone for a throw in as opposed to a goal kick.
He’s not going to start but is a fantastic option off the bench both of we are chasing and if we are holding on.

To me it is, either Embleton or Keshi as a choice, and I think Keshi is more of a goal threat. May not last 90 mins though, also impressed he has come back from a bad injury this season when most thought he would not be back till next.
However whatever happens isn't it great to have realistic options all over the pitch

Bench I presume.
Mitchell has to start on right if we want goals.
I would start keshi over kaikai & Embleton.

Bench without a doubt, Yates and Simms will be the first choice and quite rightly so, but it will be good to have Madine as an option from the bench if needed, not sure how sharp he would be though.

Madine isn't pacy, so sharpness - whilst useful - isn't as critical as it would be for a player like CJ. If he can come on, move defenders around and be physical, then he'll be giving us something that otherwise won't be there.

That is spot on actually, he does give us that option and it is something we might need.

Yates starts every game, Simms starts every game we want to play 2 strikers. Madine is cover and an experienced head when and if the need arises.

For me our first XI (given current injuries etc) looks something like this;

Maxwell
Turton, Ballard Thorniley, Husband
Stewart, Dougall
Mitchell, Garbutt
Simms, Yates

And the subs bench must be this;

Moore, Gabriel, Epiketa, Anderson, Embleton, Holmes, Madine

Given where we were 2 weeks ago that bench now looks VERY strong and any number of the XI can be switched out and the formation swapped around from 442, 433, 4231, 532 whatever etc

I think the fluidity of our squad and the ability to switch up formations, move players around and chop and change makes us very dangerous.

The fact we’re able to say that without Grettarson, Virtue, Ward, Kai Kai and CJ is frankly incredible.

Have said a few times on this forum, I have had a dream for a long time now that Madine comes on in the final and scores the winner .. Lump On!

NC will be watching videos of the recent Oxford games and looking for weaknesses in their team
before selecting his own it s impossible to guess what his team selection is going to be.

Big Gaz will be on the bench. He has a vital role to play putting the wind up the opposition's subs and treading on the fat lad Robinson's dodgy white trainers 🏝️ 👊👍

If Simms and Yates are getting no change out of a couple of bruisers send the Madine on to sort them out. Yates will suddenly have all the space in the world. Madine is the plan B we haven't had recently, if things are going well we may not need him but what an option to have.

Totally agree LA1
When you look back at the performance on Sunday from what was predominantly a second string squad it simply evidences the fact that we have a hell of a strength in depth.
When was the last time we could say that ?

Maybe this is a wishful thinking prophecy rather than a dream, but I have thought the same for months now!
