HUDDERSFIELD END & FANS

Just talked to a good Huddersfield mate of mine who was in the away end last night. He and their fans could not believe what was going on.

Their access Gate was wide open for entrance with two stewards on (no turnstiles). He said hardly anyone was getting checked for their ticket and loads walked in without them, they were just walking in, some with alcohol as none were getting checked.

He said the stand was rammed with fans and the isles were full too so obviously more than allowed, it did look packed. Seats were missing all over the place.

A majority of them had been on the booze all day and they thoroughly expected to be kept behind after the game. He was saying that there will be trouble if you are continually letting away fans out who are obviously drunk, right into the path of home supporters after games.

Personally I’m not bothered but it sounds like the club are doing anything but stewarding the away end well (mainly entrance).

He commented on our team that we tired more than them as the game went on and we looked lightweight all over the pitch.

When we played Bournemouth at Dorchester whilst Dean Court was being rebuilt, purchased away tickets where brought down on a club coach. The coach got stuck in traffic and was going to miss kick off, the senior police officer decided (very sensibly) to let all 'pool supporters in at about 2:55 as he doubted any of us would travel on the off chance we might get in for free.

I wonder if any Huddersfield fans did travel without a ticket. Can't have been many.

Plenty of tickets being sold for the away fans from the hut next to the North.

The away fans were exiting at the north end until we went 3 down then suddenly Tony was saying exiting to the south

The plan (agreed before the game with the police) was always for the Huddersfield fans to exit at the south end of the ground. They were told this as they went in and it was announced twice over the PA during the match.

Pretty sure he said initially the Huddersfield fan “Exit to your Right”. Only the last announcement did I hear Bloomfield Road as I thought eh? That’s left?
Maybe the Noisy north has damaged my ear drums 🥁
You're correct. At least one announcement stated exit Right onto Bloomfield rd ! Then later corrected to left . Confusion all round . So this season we've had them entering and exiting from the south , entering from the south and exiting from the north , and now entering from the north and exiting from the south . Needs sorting permanently.

Ha DJ he may have said 'right'...but the instruction was deffo to exit onto Bloomfield Road. I too am in the noisy north and the PA 'underperforms' there! 🙄

Why was this the plan differing to two previous games?

Any particular reason why they reverted to mix the fans again on Bloomfield Road after the match?
It seemed to work fine, the last 2 home games.

Matters were helped, not, by the announcement that Huddersfield Town fans should exit to their RIGHT onto Bloomfield Rd at the end of the game!

Were they all looking at the wall at the back of the stand?
Yeah daft.

Suppose it could have been worse, he could have said exit to my right.

A bloke shouts back to him which way are you facing Tony?

Steve,
The madness of tipping out the away fans onto Bloomfield Road is open to all to see.
(surely someone must have seen how many 'Udders fans were 4i55ed in the ground - 3 went on the pitch - tho records may say 2 as one fell in the attempt to stand up.
So, back to exiting the ground:-
1.There are the barriers to protect the hotel entrance/split the home and away fans. They run for the 5 metres to pavement and the stewards all hold to the barriers either in fear or command.
2. After said barriers, it is a free-for-all.
3. At the 'Udders game there were 12 police and 1 police horse (with rider) - we counted them.
4. Away fans then emerge giving it large (who wouldn't)
5. And then there are Taxis are next to the hotel and nearly blocking Henry Street to cause yet more obstacles.
6. Add to that the angry 'early leaver' who has parked on the 'Dulux' shop who edges forward and revs the engine
7. Parents of minors are looking after their child(ren) with concern so slow down, causing a backup. This causes others to naturally leave the pavement and step into the road.
8. Bloomfield Road is still a road so there are cars looking to drive as their SatNav informs (at the Cardiff game one car did well to brake as a Cardiff fan walked pissed.
9. Then the melee hits the Central Drive traffic lights...

It needs sorting. I am not blaming the club, police or fans. It just needs sorting. Nothing should be an accident waiting to happen.
