Tommy Hutchison was probably our best ever winger, playing from 1967-72 & also playing for Scotland. Do you know his contract fee at Blackpool was £25 a week and £10 appearance money. Hence he says that he would have been furious if the manager had rested him - unlike the whinging PL players of today. Tommy is still going strong at the age of 72 and is living in Scotland. What a player he was.

Ever heard of Stanley Matthews?

He would hurdle sliding tackles and keep the ball. Officials only took action when he got clattered. He remained calm while the defenders tried to stop him at all costs. Great to watch and glad he was on our team.

I think it was his first game or certainly very early on when he gave Keith Newton of Blackburn and England the run around.

I saw him play for the reserves when we signed him from Alloa Athletic ,hope he turns up for the 50th Anniversary do of Promotion at Preston.

Yep, loved Hutch. I found it fascinating how such a gangly bloke had tremendous ball control and could cause so much trouble for the opposition.
The Cov & Citeh fans loved him as well, a really clever player.

I saw him make a complete fool out of Keith Newton twice. Hutch was one of my very favourite players and I'm glad to have seen him help Blackpool to succeed in that period he was here.

I saw him do likewise with Paul Madeley the England full back. Went round him twice on one run. A genius on the ball. He never scored as many goals as he should have though. One of my favourite Bfc players

Yes he was amazing on the ball, another great Morty signing I think along with Tony Green. As said above he didn`t score or even create as many goals as his talent would have promised .

We used to joke that he`d get a nosebleed and turn back whenever the penalty area came in view.

I would also agrewith Whits that Bill Perry was our best ever left winger.

Saw Matthews a few times ,cant remember seeing Bill Perry but I can remember Tommy Hutchinson and Mickie Burns being my fav orite players at the time ,Tony Green also. They were faster than the older era.
When Sinclair came on the scene ,he seemed faster again.
Its not possible to compare eras, all great players for the Mighty

When Hutchy first came in to the team I always remember him bending over double on the half way line trying to get his beath back after one of his mazy runs. Definitely in my list of favourite players.

"....hope he turns up for the 50th Anniversary do of Promotion at Preston."...is anything arranged?

Hutch was tremendous, but you'd have to put Matthews and Perry ahead of him.
