I just don’t get this Bowler love-i

Hit and miss for sure, dangerous and skillful at times, weak at others.

Final ball needs to improve.

On the ball he is absolutely amazing, he gets it in some positions with men around him and my instant thought is we've lost it and he skins them from nothing. It is mesmerising to watch.

His delivery, which has been discussed many times, is definitely lacking. If he had that delivery in his arsenal already though he'd be premier league standard without doubt, he was putting some decent balls in today to be fair to him so signs of improvement are showing.

He's usually our main threat, so I wouldn't call him a passenger at all.
He just needs to get his head up to improve that final ball, which as many have posted over the season so far, is sometimes misplaced or he makes the wrong decision to shoot when a team mate is in a better position to score.

But as 2 posters have already said, he'd be playing at a higher level if he was ending his runs with a great final ball.

Some fair criticism of him and let’s be honest there are so many wingers in the league with similar weaknesses.
His potential is enormous though - question will be his development, will he continue to be pace with patchy end product or develop like Raheem Sterling or even CR7 did and become more relaxed in the final 10 yards when the right pass is needed or a simple finish.

I remember Chelsea saying similar about Mo Salah and shipping him out due to lack of consistency and end product.

Showing my age now, I admit, but he reminds me of seeing Alex Sabella at Leeds c ‘79(?).

The crowd never really took to him, as his efforts never seemed to produce the goods in the final pass, but in reality he was streets ahead of the rest of the team at the time & was simply creating an opening, then putting the ball to where a better player should’ve been.

He was really poor today. And I don't buy this argument that 'aside from his final ball' he would be a great player. Passing the ball to a colleague is fairly fundamental in football and week in week out he is incapable of doing it.

Didn't he score 2/3 against us for Sheft U in a LC game Oct 78? We lost 2-3

Today I thought he had moments of true quality. And then two minutes later would get the ball and completely waste it. Another little criticism is that he rarely gets into space, there were several times today when Marv or the midfielders were coming forward but bowler was stood still rather than trying to find some space. Generally think he contributes more than he gives away, but as a fan we might be thinking he could be so much more. Time will tell

Half a dozen mazy runs into traffic or a final misplaced pass. Tracking back is an afterthought, as if he suddenly remembers he should. He’s a passenger !
That was only his 19th league start of his life. He has made a further 21 appearances as sub so not even had a full season of appearances yet.

Do you expect him to be the finished article the moment he makes his profrssional break through?

He is amazing for such a young player. Yes, we can see where he can improve but I don't doubt Critch will have any problem in improving him because he has the raw talent.

What are you measuring him against? Because he contributed more than any other player in the final third today. Maybe it’s you expectations are unrealistic but he’s our most potent threat, Lavery aside.

Calling him a passenger is one of your dumbest comments, and there’s tough competition.
agree. Tend to think a lot of his football stuff is a bit guff. Of course Bowlet's a lot to work to do to improve on but he's most definitely a threat rather than a passenger.

He aims balls in the general direction of the box, but direction is always off, and often when he has time. He also seems to lack the strength to get generate power.

His decision making is hard to fathom, making it difficult for his teammates.

The cross for the goal went straight to the keeper, and the defender headed it out of his hands.

We have to be able to grind out results, and Bowler and TJJ leave us short.

He also put in a cross first minute with his right foot, which was exactly the area you want to put it and forced the defender to make an awkward clearance for a corner.

Talking to a forest fan on the way back to the car. He couldn't compliment bowler enough. Said he's amazing and will be keeping an eye on his career for the future as he's gonna go places

Best get 10 Neil Bishops in then.

Bowler is ** mint. He scares the other team to death. No, his end product isn't great all the time but he's definitely worth his place and then some.

What I don't think you can have is two players not really that defensively astute and in that I agree that both him and TJJ doesn't work.

However, if there's no place in football for one player who is more attacking than defensive in a side then to me, I question what the point of football is....

Very decent player with lots of ability who is learning his trade. Caused a number of championship defences this term problems with his running. Becoming very important to the side.

Young wingers are rarely consistent but for games where it doesn’t come off, there’s the balance of the one that wins us a tight victory.
He’s destroyed full backs and scored a cracker already this season. He’s got pace and talent and will add composure in time.

We can swap and change with Demi and Keshi (even CJ) when fit and available so in that vein we’ve got a good crop of exciting wide men.

He doesn’t look like a player that could play central at this stage? Back to the goal wouldn’t be in his skill set and his passing ability too isn’t quite there.

He’s a true flair player that will petrify opposition players and fans. If he’d having an off game then replace in that game. If the replacement plays well then sit him on the bench next match and encourage him to win the shirt back.

For once we are blessed with exciting young wide players.

Im a fan of Bowler, our most exciting player i can remember since Hoolahan. Brilliant at times, frustrating at others. If he can work on his end product he will be worth multi millions.

We had several performances last season when we struggled so badly to open up the opposing defence it made me question whether we were anywhere near good enough to go up. The reason we struggled to create was because we had no-one in the team that could cause sufficient panic in the opposition defence to create openings. It was all far too easy for the Shrewsbury/Rochdale/Accy defenders. Sometimes you don't need a perfect final ball, you just need to cause a bit of havoc, a little bit of doubt in the defenders' minds, and get it into the general area.

Aside from anything else, he's already made a good contribution this season. Just from memory he set up the goal for our equaliser at Bristol City and scored the winner against Fulham with a goal he created for himself. So that's over a quarter of our points so far this season...

He's a gets your bum of the seat player (not the finished article yet ,but I think it's more about other players around him to give him the opportunity to pass to them)(reminds me a bit of Trevor !)
