If everyone was fully fit

Kai Kai as well
I tend to agree on both, but wouldn’t say either is 100% certain. Stewart could replace Dougall and with Sullay the question is whether you get more from lesser players who are more consistent. And also what system do you play to get the best out of him and the side as a whole.

There is difference between being fit and match fit. That's why Anderson, who had a good first half, was substituted in the second half. Shouldn't be too many changes from the side that played Northampton.

The first game is in nine days by that time the majority of our large squad will
be fit which gives us a distinct advantage over Lincoln who have a squad of only 24 players

Maxwell
Turton Ballard Thorneily Garbutt

Ward Dougall Stewart

Kai Kai Anderson

Yates

Those front three would be scary
I think we haven't been able to see much of it this season with his injury, but when Keshi and Yates are on the pitch they link up well having played before. If only Keshi was fit when Yates found his form!

It depends on the formation. I think we played a standard 4-4-2 when we beat them at their place but it wouldn't surprise me to see the setup as at Sunderland with a nominal 5 back when we don't have the ball.

It's seems hard to drop Simms given the last couple of games but he didn't start at Sunderland so... I have no idea really. Glad its not up to me.

Maxwell

Turton/Gabriel
Ballard
Greta
Garbutt

Ward
Dougall

Keshi
KK
Mitchell

Yates

Subs

Moore
Gabriel/Turton
Ekpiteta
Stewart
Embleton
Simms
Madine

Really surprised at people including Stewart considering he's not been back long and hasn't really impressed in the last couple of games.

Maxwell
Turton Ballard Gretarsson Garbutt
Ward Dougall
Mitchell Kaikai Anderson
Yates

Tough one to choose between Mitchell and Simms. Simms is in form but if we play one striker it has to be Yates. But either way, that is a damn good side right there, more than capable against any of the play off clubs.

I think people are picking Stewart because the question was ‘if everyone was fully fit’.

Fair enough, I still think he's got a lot to prove to replace Dougall or Ward from the team. But that's just my opinion.

Actually, following @southshore post, I forgot about CJ! He'd be in ahead of Mitchell if fit. Probably. There's just too many options when all fully fit.

There’s loads of options and an obvious 11 doesn’t stand out to me. Happen to agree with you re Dougall, he’s been the rock that our improved form has been built on.

I suppose the more interesting question is will he have two teams in mind - one from home and one for away? Ironically our away from is better than our home form and so God knows which way round he'd play it!

It shows how much if a better TEAM we have become as the season and injuries developed.

CJ Hamilton for example I think made us a little one dimensional and less of a passing team and for me might not now be a first 11 if he was to step in for the play offs ..... But my God, what a player off the bench either to stretch their defence for a goal and keep them back if we need to waste time

I believe Madine and Hamilton and Gretarson would be really pushing for a start if the question if fully match fit.

Not saying they should start.

Play the players that have played well the last matches.

Its a really tough call on selection but i would pick the following team.

Maxwell
Ballard, Big Marv, Gretarson
Gabriel Garbutt
Dougal, Ward
Keshi KaiKai
Yates

Subs:
Moore
Turton
Husband
Madine
Simms
Stewart
CJ (realistically Mitchell)

Tough to leave out the following:

CJ, Embelton, Robson, Thornilly (Turton & Husband give better balance on Bench)y, Holmes.

Its great having a strong squad.

Away

Maxwell
Turton Ballard Thornily Husband
Kaikai Ward Stewart Dougall Garbutt
Yates

Home

Maxwell
Gabriel Ballard Thornily Husband
Kaikai Ward Dougall Garbutt
Yates Simms

5-3-2 for me away
Maxwell
Gabriel Turton Gretterson Ballard Garbutt
Ward Dougall Embleton
Yates. Simms
Subs ,anyone of the rest of the tangerines ,every one of them could do a job in firing us to the championship (whould like to see Madine on the bench along side Kai Kai though, and Stewart. (and CJ but I know that ain't going to happen)C,MON the MIGHTY We CAN Do IT believe🤞.

... and Ballard. Then I really like Gabriel and Garbutt, Dougall and Simms, Kaikai is always a threat - there's 8 and I've only scratched the surface!

It's not about quality of player, it's about who plays from the multitude of options available. You mention Gabriel, but is he going to play ahead of Turton who has been Mr Consistent all season? Simms has been great in the last few games, but has also been on the bench when we've played Kaikai and Embleton behind Yates. There's so many options available to the manager. Thornily wouldn't have been on anyone's team sheet in December, but he's definitely earned the right to be really pissed off if he misses out on game time in the play offs. Great problem for Critch to have, but also he'll really have to be spot on in his selections, systems and man management to get the maximum out of every player and team performance.

Options are nice to have, but can increase the risk of getting it wrong. I do have faith in NC though and have said several times that he is well on the way to becoming an outstanding coach. The play offs will be as big a test for him I think, as it will the players. Personally I think we have a great aquad at this level, but I do have a nagging feeling that Sunderland will be a big threat and are due to come good after their recent run.

It's the risk of getting it wrong that worries me most. When you get to the big games, I'd prefer to know exactly what the best starting X1 is and how they'll line up. Put out your best side and make the opposition worry about you.

The reason for my OP was that I'm still not 100% sure what our best side is. Obviously doesn't matter as long as the side(s) that do play, win.

Maxwell

Turton
Ballard
Thorniley
Husband
Garbutt

Embleton
Ward
Dougall
Kaikai

Yates

That would be my team
It is an interesting one as to whether we save Simms for the home game and do something different at Oxford. Who'd be a manager!
