Please don't ignore the bowel screening test that will arrive on your doormat from 50+.
A very close friend of mine is perfectly fit (he played at Wolves with John Richards & at Chorley with Paul Mariner) completed the poo test.
The result gave a positive result for cancer. He has NO symptoms whatsoever and has never felt fitter!
He has an operation this week to remove the cancer from his large bowel, & the consultant is confident that they have found it early enough to enable him to make a full recovery.
The poo test has without a doubt saved his life. Please don't ignore the 💩💩 test
NHS ages: The programme is expanding to make it available to everyone aged 50 to 59 years. This is happening gradually over 4 years and started in April 2021.

Do we all get one at 50 🧐 I didn’t but will chase it up it should have done

NHS bowel cancer screening checks if you could have bowel cancer. It's available to everyone aged 60 to 74 years.

The programme is expanding to make it available to everyone aged 50 to 59 years. This is happening gradually over 4 years and started in April 2021.

And make sure to have a PSA blood test for prostate cancer.
I had zero symptoms but discovered it at 56. All was contained in prostate and the op was booked for the op but then fukin covid came along n delayed my op by 12 weeks. When my prostate was later examined it was found to have burst out in that 12 week period.
They also cut some fat out n ‘think’ they got it all. ‘Think’ !!!
The wait for each blood test result is a scary one now but so far it’s undetectable after 4 n a bit years.
Discovering it just about early enough saved my life.
So please please ask for a PSA test as they are no longer compulsory.
I’ve done the shit test too n it’s all good.
Don’t fuck with cancer guys or it will kill you!!!

Very good post, and it also applies to women
Sadly my Sister in Law died of bowel cancer 10 years ago after not taking the option of a free bowel screening, no early symptoms as you said.

I had a free check (camera up, can't recall its medical term) at 55, with a follow up poo kit in the post at 60.
Also had a PSA/blood test for prostate, all very reassuring

I'm so sorry Lala, I wasn't thinking straight when I posted & my wife has chastised me!

I had my two yearly check last November, which was clear. Particularly important following my leukaemia experience the year before and the fact that my mother died from bowel cancer, which had spread to her liver. Would recommend it to all. Takes 5 mins and results back within about 10 days

Good and bad up here. Poo test every 2 years since we moved up here. Doctor refuses to do PSA unless I have symptoms 😡

My doctor wouldn’t give me one for 2 years,but then another doc at the practice did and lo and behold I had prostate cancer.I had the op but it had also escaped so I had radiotherapy and that didn’t get it either so now they can’t fix me and I’m on hormones to slow it down .Please guys get checked out !!!
