Is it a sackable offence?

No, and anyone who thinks otherwise should invite us round to their workplace (in the unlikely event they have one) and allow non-professionals with no qualifications to judge their performance without any context and decide whether they should be sacked

You mean the Auditors? 😁

Jump on board mate. Everyone else seems to be having a go with insults, include some of those.

Planned not to do anything about a downpour though?

Not like it’s never rained in this country is it? We’ve all been to games when it’s pissed it down.
It seems a little unrealistic to me that anyone at the club would want anymore matches being delayed even if the goal machine, CJ et al will be available. I think the backlog might give us problems towards the back end of the season but you might be right and I may be being naive.

I didn't actually read many posts beyond yours.

To be honest I’m not sure why it offend so many people and their reactions to it. Fair enough if you disagree, but I don’t think it’s a massive reach to suggest we may have just let it happen.

My point was, is it a sackable offence? No because I can see the club letting the pitch get waterlogged because we’ve just had one of our longest away trip of the seasons and 5 key players are out, it sort of suits us to push this game back 6 weeks, whilst there’s one free Tuesday left, it’s not going to leave us any more backlogged than we already currently are. We’ve just swapped one free Tuesday for now instead of the last week of the season.

I suspect covers would have sorted most of the problems out, it seems an obvious solution to get the game on, but we held off.

But as I said in my first post, I could be wrong, of course.

Yep, after one of our furthest away trips, with 4/5 key players out against a top four side, a situation comes up. You take it.

Have you not been able to cuddle one of your teddy bear avatars tonight? Or are you always this angry about a called off game?
Actually I was not in the least angry.Yes I was about to login to my IFollow and hey presto found the game was off.
Of course like everyone else I was looking forward to the game but if the ref says it’s not playable then you just have to accept it.
If I was angry about anything it was later on when I read some of the conspiracy twaddle some ( you for instance) were putting forward on here and worst still the vitriol of wanting the groundsman sacked.
Our pitch has unfortunately had issues for a number of years ( for example the sand pit and very patchy surface which we have all seen for ourselves) and until recently we haven’t had an owner who has made an effort to improve the stadia and the pitch by investing.

By the way we’ve been without key players one way or another since before Xmas.....because injuries and illness( Covid) happen.

...Oh and Our Teddy Bears always deserve a cuddle...you certainly won’t be getting one🐻🐻🐻🐻

Form is very temporary, they came back from 3-1 down in the last minute against a top two side just a few days ago. You could argue their very recent form is outstanding.

They’ve already beaten us once, they’re in the top four for a reason.

Our squads on its arse currently,

I can see people at the club using the rain as a way of putting this off.

There was one free Tuesday before this postponement, bingo.

I imagine this will be our last weather affected game this season now due to their being no more dates to re arrange. Very convenient.
Gosh Rek do you also believe in the tooth fairy and that the Covid vaccine is a plot to make us all PNE fans?

Well you seemed very angry, but at least you had the bottle to have a go first, some of the others jumped on your coat tails to have a , pretty weak.

So firstly I’m not sure I’ve offered a conspiracy theory, many don’t start with I may be wrong, which I’ve stated a few times few this thread, I’m just offering my thoughts on it, mental that in a BFC message board.

I don’t know that you’ve followed my point, but I am sticking up for the groundsman, in saying I believe he could have kept it from being waterlogged, I mean just look at the work he did to get the WBA game on, but I have half a mind the club thought it may be beneficial if this one gets canned for a later date and just let the pitch become waterlogged, which isn’t a challenge given its current state.

Yes key players have been out for a while, but when an opportunity like a down pour presents its self, after one our longest trip of the year, with key players out and one spare Tuesday to be used, why not take it.

I think we did it for Peterborough, Burton did it a few weeks ago, we’re likely to be in a far better place two months from now to face Doncaster than we were last night. Again I don’t think it’s that far out there to suggest we weren’t that concerned with getting the game on

I still don’t get why you all got so irate. Oh and thank god Those poor bears look like they’ve been through the ringer, glad I’ve missed out on one of your hugs.

It's an ingenious theory. But on Monday night the club said that seeking COVID-related postponements was something they considered unethical and that they wanted to play. They were quite insistent about that. And it is the same principle, isn't it?

It is exactly the same principle, I am still waiting for the minutes to have a read through. And good on the club if that’s the approach they’re adopting.

If they’re pursuing gamesmanship behind the scenes, whilst portraying an immaculate perception to the fans and the wider footballing community, then bravo I say, it would give me even more confidence the clubs being run by some very smart people.

All allegedly though, in my conspiratorial mind.

We need to talk about your conspiratorial affliction. I think you have caught it on here you know.

Let's wait for the club to make a statement eh? I think calling for a guy to be potted without knowing all the facts is poor, but as posted already these comments are most likely borne from frustration.

As a pool fan, I admit to being a little embarrassed when Morecambe can still play after (apparently) enduring similar weather. It's also very frustrating of course.

I see that, amongst the several threads tonight , the SLO has agreed to ask the club about the pitch. Let's see what the club says. I suspect SS is just as embarrassed and frustrated as we are.
You simply can't compare our pitch in drainage terms with Morecambe as they have a relatively new pitch compared to ours.
Their pitch will have been constructed with the latest drainage and substrate compounds when it was laid.

Unlike our substrate will be very compacted now and although the drainage was updated when the pitch was moved it was a stains project and it would be done as cheap as can be done.

Then you also have the lottery of where the ground is situated and how the area around each ground drains which can be different within a couple of miles.

yes because of the previous groundsman, not because of this clown thats in charge now.
How do you know that? You don't know anything about the guy and what he's been doing.
Have you seen the posts on twitter of him being at the ground overnight to make sure that games have been on?
Ask Oldham fans about how he kept their pitch in good condition on a shoe string budget, they loved the guy.
The club have come out and said that it's not his fault, but obviously you know better.

Won't be able to see his twitter posts now because some so called fans have harassed his so much he's deleted his twitter. Some people have been an embarrassment to our fanbase today.

Some people need a head wobble only two years ago we couldn’t see a route back to even going to watch our team let’s look at the positives and how far we have come in the last couple of years the pitch is in the best condition for years after all that neglect we have a young ambitious manager and a lifelong fan as the owner who has already proved his intentions and a young team who will help us get where we all want to be let’s enjoy the ride and not look for negatives

I certainly never intended to hug you( even if social distancing was no longer with us) ...and the Bears wouldn’t dream of it either.
...anyway enjoy your conspiracy theory if it makes you happy.
By the way we are at Charlton this Saturday...what excuse can we come up with.

For the sake of understanding what actually matters in life...while I was replying to this, our phone rang...it was our cousin to say his Dad had passed away last night. Not local but in Malaysia but our cousin and his family( grand children included) live here so he can’t go to the funeral. His Mum sadly has dementia....fortunately there are still family in Malaysia who can help...maybe you should put a football game being called off a lot lower down the list of priorities in life.Just a thought.

Wasn't our pitch fully stripped and re-laid in the off season. Remember Lee's video with the contractor showing all the bad bits and telling Lee that it would all be resolved. Morcambe must have had theirs done during the season then?

We had the top layer resurfaced, but didn't go any deeper where the problems seem to be.
This was when they found the rubble in the corner I believe.

All he needs is a nemotode or two in his back pocket to “find” on the pitch and he’s going to be immune to the sack.

I was going to offer my condolences and wish you and your family the best despite our differing opinions, as I often wonder what value I get out of being on here ( Not much).

But then I read your last few lines and realise you’re a very sad individual to use your grief as a way to dig and preach at a poster on an obscure football message board that you’ve never met about something that you could have easily ignored if you didn’t like, but are now choosing to condescend instead.
Perhaps you should take your own advice and not get worked up and waste your time replying to posters on a small football forum if it gets you this worked up? As you insinuate there’s more to life than this. Just a thought.

You’ve come across as a bit of a weasel if I’m honest.

I’ll be the better for never interacting with you again. 👍

No problem...especially if you can’t appreciate what I was trying to convey.

Kyle answered the question after your post.
